Windham Golf Club is seeking a well-rounded, team-driven, Assistant Superintendent to join its golf course maintenance team. Windham Golf Club is an 18-hole semi-private golf club located in the Catskill Mountain region of New York. The golf club is part of the expanding Windham Mountain Club. The membership amenities are vast; our resort boasts not only an 18-hole golf course, but also a driving range, ski mountain, gym, spa and dining outlets. We are located 2.5 hours north of NYC and 45 minutes south of Albany. The golf course is currently being evaluated for major infrastructure improvements in the coming years and is continuously utilizing innovative maintenance programs. The capital improvements and projects include a new irrigation system, new greens construction, bunker renovation, lengthening of certain holes, regressing playing surfaces and expanding the golf course onto newly bought land. The clubhouse is undergoing a complete renovation in the Winter 2025. The equipment fleet will be growing in the coming years to a value over 2.5 million dollars. The maintenance facility is also in the planning stages of upgrades and expansions. This is an exciting time for an Assistant Superintendent to get hired on the ground floor and get extensive project planning/ construction and grow-in experience. It is an exciting time to join Windham Golf Club! Overview of Position: The Assistant Superintendent plays a key role in golf course and property management daily. This person will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, Equipment Manager, and other Assistant to plan and execute all maintenance tasks and projects. Job Qualifications: + Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management preferred + 3-5 years golf course management experience + Ability to understand and follow written and verbal direction + Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds + Must be highly motivated, goal-driven, and eager to learn and grow within the industry + Strong understanding of the game of golf and the principles of agronomy + Demonstrated leadership experience and ability to manage a diverse and growing team + Excellent organizational and communication skills + Ability to obtain a NYS Pesticide License within 90 days of hire Job Responsibilities: + Daily Mowing + Assist in planning, scheduling and supervision of staff + Assist in making pant protectant and fertilizer applications to all surfaces + Assist in training new employees in all aspects of golf course maintenance + Assist in scouting the golf course for disease and pests + Perform irrigation repairs and maintenance + Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Work Schedule and Conditions: + In season hours May 1- Nov 1 – 60+ hours/ week. + Off Season hours Nov 1-Apr 30 – 35+ hour weeks, weekends as needed Perks and Benefits: + Excellent Medical/ Dental/ Vision + 401k after 1 year + Dues for local/ national organizations + Vacation and Sick pay + Annual bonus opportunities + Uniforms provided + Continuing Education + Tournament Volunteer Experience + Golf Privileges + Winter recreation perks, including ski & snowboarding passes + Employee Discount at all retail and F&B outlets
