\n \n Job Description

Starters are responsible for the orderly and timely movement of tee times, controlling the pace ofplay, and ensuring the golf course policies and dress code are followed in addition to providing guests high quality customer service.

\n Requirements

Duties include but are not limited to:

\n\nInteracts with golfers in a friendly, helpful manner.\nResponsible for informing players of course conditions and local rules.\nResponsible for maintaining a reasonable pace of play on the golf course.\nKeep tee times moving on time and in an orderly manner.\n\n

Starter Duties and Responsibilities

\n\nOpen the starter office at the beginning of each shift.\nCheck the sign-in sheet to determine who may already be out on the course.\nCheck the lock box and balance against the starter sheet against members and any non-members who may be playing.\nOpen the safe and remove the cash box, daily envelopes, and guest bag tags.\nLock up cash when out on the course marshaling or away from the starter office.\nPut out golfs balls, tees, and other items for sale.\nEnsure the refrigerator is stocked with beverages for saleMarshal the course from hole 18 back to hole 1 to ensure the sign in sheet is in agreementwith those who may already be out on the course.\nReturn to the starter shack and be available to coordinate an orderly flow of golfers on a firstcome first serve basis…(reserved starting times are not permitted)\nIf the course is very busy monitor / assign the appropriate starting hole for golfers to spacegolfers if necessary.\nDepending on the number of players periodically marshal the course, recommended at leastonce every 90 minutes\n\n

Marshalling the golf course

\n\nEnsure all golfers are registered on the sign in sheet and that guests have paid.\nEnsure complete compliance with PCC rules and regulations… when dealing with a golfer(s)who are not following the rules, calmly explain the rules and ask for compliance. For thosegolfers who refuse to comply or are argumentative, if possible, obtain the number on the cartdecal or on the golf bag and report the violation and violator to the PCCHOA office.\nEnsure pace of play is maintained.\nEnsure all golfers are properly attired.\nEnsure only two golfers to each golf cart.\nEnsure only four golfers to a hole (atStarter/Marshall’s discretion a five some may bepermitted depending on play and pace of play).\nEnsure all golfers have their own set of clubs.\nEnsure proper distance is maintained from the tee boxes and greens except for those withblue handicap flags. Even with a blue flag a cart may not be closer than 20 feet to a green. (Per Americans with Disabilities ACT (“ADA”) Policy.\n\n

Operating the Starter Shack

\n\nBe available to check in golfers, collect guest fees, issue guest bag tags, sell golf items andbeverages. Periodically check the lock box when returning from marshaling the course.\nRecord all transactions and balance the cash box with the sign in sheet and golf items andbeverages sold.\nDaily turn in all documents.\nEnsure all golf carts have a PCC decal and all member golf bags have a PCC bag tag.\nEnsure all golfers are properly dressed.\nIssue blue handicap flags upon presentation of appropriate documents.\nAnswer questions from homeowners and guests about the course and play.\nPlace any items found on the course in a lost and found box located in the players’ lounge\n\n

End of Shift

\n

\n\nEmpty the lock box, balance all sales and cash, checks and vouchers.\nReturn the cash box to the safe and lock it.\nBalance cash receipts, receipt reporting by category and balance petty cash.\nLock the refrigerator.\nLock the starter office and the starter office window.\nLock men’s and ladies washrooms.\nEnsure new sign in sheet for the next day is outside the starter office.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\n

Knowledge and Skills

\n

\n\nGeneral knowledge of Golf Course operations.\nAbility to lift over 50 lbs.\nExcellent customer service skills\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\n\n

Education and Experience

\n\nHigh school diploma or its equivalent\n\n

Licenses & Certifications

\n\nValid Driver's License\nCurrent Alcohol Beverage Control Certification\n\n

Working Conditions

\n\nNon-Typical office environment (frequent standing, walking, talking, etc.), both inside activities
and outside activities.\nOn-call, weekends, 24hr emergency, etc.)\n\n
