Required Education:

4 Year Degree This position assists with the daily operations and functions of the department’s compliance area. Assist other compliance staff members with carrying out vital compliance programming including rules education, monitoring and record-keeping, as assigned. This position will develop and maintain strong communication with their supervisor, peers, internal and external constituents, coaches, and administrators.

Compliance Monitoring-25% Monitors compliance with NCAA and WCC legislation including all policies, procedures, workflows, and forms involved in managing the Athletic Department. Manages compliance monitoring and recruiting software to track CARA logs, coach recruiting activity, prospect lists, playing and practice seasons, complimentary admission, recruiting visits, and other compliance workflows and forms. Manage the execution and analysis of prospective and current student-athlete complimentary admissions.

Rules Education- 20% In coordination with Director of Compliance, prepare and conduct rules education session presentations to university and athletic department personnel, student-athletes, families of prospects and current student-athletes, and representatives of athletics interests. Maintain up to date knowledge of NCAA, WCC, and Gonzaga University policies, bylaws, interpretations and case precedent.

Administrative Duties- 30% Assists with various day-to-day to compliance administrative duties, tryouts and walk-on procedures, student-athlete roster management, athletic participation, investigation and reporting of NCAA rules violations, and NCAA rules interpretations. Evaluate and analyze initial-eligibility of prospective student-athletes and develop and communicate recommendations to coaches and prospects. Administer student-athlete textbook program. Manage departmental autographed items program. May act on behalf of the Director of Compliance in his/her absence.

NIL Community Engagement and Student-Athlete Development-15% Review, coordinate, and approve institutional promotional activities. Assist Director of Life skills Development with organization, coordination and attendance at student-athlete community outreach activities. Implement and coordinate departmental NIL educational efforts. Assist with student-athlete NIL activation opportunities connected to non-profits and charitable entities.

NCAA Compliance-5% Employees of Gonzaga University’s Athletic Department must comply with all NCAA rules and regulations, and acknowledge this compliance as part of an evaluation process. At all times and in all positional duties compliance with NCAA rules and regulations must be maintained. The amount of work dedicated to compliance-related tasks may vary by role and responsibility level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

At least one (1) year of related experience required. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations Experience with NCAA Applications (Compliance Assistant, LSDBI, Eligibility Center) Strong communication skills in order to clearly explain options and solutions to end users Demonstrated ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality and discretion

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced degree (Masters or Juris Doctorate) Work experience in Division I compliance 3-5 years professional work experience Experience with Banner student records system
