Governance Manager

The Data Governance Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive governance framework to support the MAST AMOS roll out and ongoing business processes. The role involves creating policy documents, reviewing and reporting on key performance indicators (KPI’) to assess the success of governance processes, and mapping business processes to align with governance objectives and ensure MAST benefits realization can be achieved. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance principles, excellent analytical skills, experience in business process analysis and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Essential Functions:

Develop & implement governance policies –  Create and maintain governance policies and processes through collaboration with workstream SME’s across all Operating Companies and Corporate functions.  Complete activities included in the Governance Project Plan for governance framework roll out,  identify opportunities for continuous improvement in existing processes and implement new ways of working which increase data management maturity. Drive sign off & implementation of Governance policies and processes - Utilize negotiation and change management skills to drive the sign-off of documents and the implementation of new ways of working to ensure successful adoption of new or updated policies and processes. Ensure governance documentation is held in a central repository and relevant approved documents uploaded to Global HESS. Manage document version control and implement a documentation review schedule in accordance with company retention and review policy. Stakeholder Engagement –  Establish and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders –  Develop strong working relationships with Brand Leads, Deployment Teams (Brand & Project), BAU Change Management Team, Ship SLT’s, Data Validation Teams, external contractors such as EY & Spectec and any other stakeholders as needed.  Act as a point of contact for data policy-related enquiries and issues Coordinate with data stakeholders to ensure data governance processes are followed and provide guidance on data process matters Monitor Data Quality & Track performance against KPI’s in Quality Management Standard: Regularly assess data quality in MAST AMOS PMS, identify data which is not in accordance with data rules and standards, raise data rectification ticket and follow up to ensure rectification is completed Work with business analytics team to define reporting requirements against agreed KPI’s, analyze reports to agreed schedule, present findings to Governance Review Board and ensure agreed resolutions implemented Facilitate business process mapping – Undertake reviews of existing and new business processes with workstream SME’s  Identify potential gaps and inefficiencies which may impact on expected benefits realization  Review and propose updated ways of working with Senior Manager and work with stakeholders to implement revised processes.      Provide training and support: Develop and deliver training programs to team members both ashore and at sea on updated governance processes and ways of working to ensure consistent messaging is delivered and compliance can be achieved Promote a culture of data governance within the organization Facilitate Governance Review Board: Support the monthly Governance Review Board meeting by setting the agenda and preparing relevant slides etc., prepare minutes after the meeting and follow up on action items to ensure completion.      Review the use of Governance tools and technologies  Undertake regular reviews of tools utilized for the purposes of Governance,  Maintain awareness of organization best practice and broader technology development and make recommendations for enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness of governance

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Science, Information Management or related field Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), or Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP), or equivalent are preferred 5 – 8 years of experience in Data Governance and / or business process analysis. Strong experience in implementing new governance processes and increasing data governance maturity.  Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Outlook, TEAMS, Word, Excel). Able to make updates to a project plan using Microsoft Project. Expertise in Power BI for data analysis and report generation and familiarity with broader Data Governance tools a plus.

Knowledge Understanding of industry standard data governance frameworks, maturity models & methodologies Knowledge of data lifecycle management, data quality and data stewardship Awareness of best practices for data privacy, security and ethical data handline Insight into how governance aligns with and supports business processes and objectives Skills Analytical skills – ability to analyze complex data sets and identify trends, issues and opportunities Communication Skills – proficiency in communicating governance policies and procedures to stakeholders Project Management – expertise in managing data governance projects including planning, execution and monitoring Technical Proficiency – Skills in using data governance tools and technologies such as data quality tools and metadata management systems Negotiation and Change Management – ability to drive sign-off of documents and implement new ways of working through effective negotiation and change management Abilities Problem-Solving – strong problem-solving abilities to address data governance challenges and issues Attention to detail – keen attention to detail to ensure data accuracy, integrity and compliance Collaboration – ability to work collaboratively with other teams in the wider MAS department, Brands and Ship teams. Adaptability – Flexibility to adapt to changing regulations, technologies and business needs Leadership – capability to lead and facilitate the Governance Review Board and business process reviews

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel: Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida from Tuesday through Thursday.  Employees may work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Some positions may require additional in-office time each week and final schedule is determined by your leader.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
