**Government Affairs Associate Director**
**Reporting to: General Manager Mexico**
**Job overview:**
The Government Affairs Associate Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining contact with key decision-makers from various institutions at the government level, including those in the public healthcare system. The Associate Director will identify policies that could open opportunities / pose barriers to maximizing patient access to our products and build relationships with academia and key decision-makers to promote health policies based on best clinical practices. Additionally, the Associate Director will implement necessary actions to mitigate reputational risks for BMS Mexico.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Government Affairs strategies:**
+ Managing the healthcare landscape, payer policies, and regulations.
+ Analysis of the latest national policies issued to develop a relevant strategy to drive the business, developing the BMS position, as well as generating perspectives of the healthcare sector through short and medium-term scenarios.
+ Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders to influence policies and regulations that impact BMS business objectives.
+ Contribute and advance industry positions to improve government policy through effective communication with relevant authorities.
+ Build scenarios for access to innovative technologies by consolidating valuable relationships with key stakeholders.
+ Work with external stakeholders to implement initiatives that promote innovation and expand access on innovative drugs to Mexican patients.
**External Advocacy:**
+ Represent the company's interests by advocating for favorable policies and regulations through direct advocacy efforts and participation in industry associations and conferences.
+ Actively participate and influence the priority pharmaceutical associations where BMS is a member.
+ Build relationships with academia and KDM to promote health policies based on best clinical practices.
+ Identify and mitigate reputational risks for BMS in interactions with government entities.
**Cross-functional collaboration:**
+ Work with global policy and government affairs teams to strategically align advocacy efforts in Mexico with global BMS priorities and objectives.
+ Working closely with internal teams, such as sales, Access, marketing, medical affairs, and regulatory affairs, to ensure alignment and coordination of Government Affairs activities.
+ Provide support to the Strategic Access team to minimize the access time of our molecules in government sector institutions.
**Monitoring and analysis:**
+ Tracking and analyzing market access trends, payer policies, and healthcare reforms that may impact the company's products.
+ Compile, analyze and structure competitive intelligence insights: trends, evolution & anticipation of upcoming movements from both competitors & BMS pipeline and adapt strategies and tactics accordingly.
+ Identify and mitigate reputational risks for BMS in interactions with government entities.
Government Affairs Associate Director plays a critical role in ensuring that a company's products can reach patients in need by navigating the complex landscape of healthcare policy.

**Payer Engagement and Relationship Management:** Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build and maintain relationships with payers, including insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers, and government agencies. This involves understanding their needs, addressing concerns, and collaborating to ensure product access and reimbursement. **Cross-functional Collaboration:** The ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, such as sales, marketing, medical affairs, and regulatory affairs, to align market access strategies and tactics. This includes providing input and guidance on product development, launch strategies, and promotional materials. **Analytical and Strategic Thinking:** Strong analytical skills to analyze market trends, payer policies, and healthcare reforms that impact market access. The ability to think strategically and adapt strategies based on insights and changing market dynamics is crucial. **Regulatory and Compliance Knowledge:** Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to health policies. This includes ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry guidelines. **Business Acumen:** A solid understanding of the business environment, including market dynamics, competitive landscape, and financial implications. This includes the ability to assess market opportunities, evaluate risks, and make informed decisions to drive business success. **Project Management:** Strong project management skills to effectively plan, execute, and monitor market access initiatives. This includes setting objectives, managing timelines and resources, and ensuring successful implementation of strategies. **Communication and Presentation Skills:** Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex market access concepts and strategies to internal and external stakeholders. The ability to deliver compelling presentations and influence decision-making is essential.
These competences are essential for Mexico Government Affairs Associate Director to navigate the complex landscape.
**Requirements of the Role:**
B.D. in Law, Political Science or similar. Understanding of healthcare systems, including funding policies in Mexico. Qualified candidates must have at least 10 years of experience working with Federal and/or local Government, relationships with institutions, as well as a deep understanding of healthcare system, including funding policies in Mexico. Having a good knowledge of Mexico policy landscape and of its dimensions pertaining to healthcare (i.e. institutions, policies, stakeholders, trends), including funding and reimbursement policies and digital health in shaping health outcomes. Existing political network and ideally knowledgeable in Market Access, Pricing and Reimbursement. Knowledge of the operations and issues associated with the pharmaceutical business model. Experienced in stakeholder mapping and action planning. Feels comfortable working autonomously with good project management skills. Experience in working in oncology, Hematology, Cardiovascular & Immunoscienpreferred. Experience in analyzing complex issues, utilizing strategic thinking and implementing tactical plans. Working experience in the healthcare sector and with international working experience with WW teams Full time position with travels

+ **External:** Institutional Administrative positions, Medical Societies, KOL's, KDM's & pharmaceutical societies (AMIIF, CANIFARMA, AmCham, etc).
