Government Legacy Transformation Leader, International Central Government

As we grow our business, the Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) International Central Government team is seeking to hire a Technical Business Development Manager to develop our offerings to support senior leaders in central governments around the world accelerate their modernisation and reform programs. In particular how we help them exit their legacy technology to cloud.

We are looking for someone who cares deeply about helping governments modernise and deliver better services. You will develop and own strategies for earning more trust with customers based on how AWS can help them achieve their missions through the effective use of technologies, policies and messaging.

You will prioritise our customers’ needs and work closely with across different teams in AWS to develop our approach to meeting these needs and delight customers. You are committed to following the data to prioritise action, you can drive clarity through written communication, effective meetings, and you are comfortable participating in reviews with senior business and engineering leaders.

You are passionate about working and helping the public sector and regulated industries; their successes are your successes; their failures are your failures. Although this is not a sales role, you will have business development expertise, with the ability to develop new go-to-market offers and deliver messaging and drive continued customer success. This includes building, collaborating and publishing rich educational content becoming the trusted adviser to our C Level customers in multiple countries.

While you do not have to be deeply technical, you are comfortable in technical conversations with customers to understand constraints are holding customers back and what may just be fear, uncertainty, and doubt. You will be able to use technical expertise to incorporate technical requirements into effective strategies. You will be able to work with engineers, solution architects, professional services, and partners to build compelling commercial offers.

You will work across AWS and with partners to build on our pipeline of customers looking to exit legacy technology systems and solutions. You will enrich and expand our comprehensive solution guide that enables public sector organisations to reduce the risks and costs of managing legacy systems while moving to low carbon footprint cloud computing.

We are looking for someone who is ready to roll-up their sleeves and join a tight-knit team that is tackling a very interesting and exciting opportunity space worldwide.


Key job responsibilities
- Collaborate with customer-facing teams to understand customer challenges on a variety of use-cases including exiting their legacy technology and build go-to market solutions that help customers with these challenges.

Evangelize effective use of cloud in public service delivery at the C-suite level and contribute to driving user adoption and engagement.
- Acting as an advisor and helping public sector organizations with their modernization challenges.
- Keep abreast of international best practice of delivering modern digital public services and work across AWS to develop new offerings to support those practices.

- Develop thought leadership, content and programs for operational leaders to help them with their reform programs.
- Role will require the ability to travel globally as needed (up to 20-40% of time).

The International Central Government Team (ICG) gives senior operational leaders the confidence, tooling and capability to accelerate their modernization and reform programs to build resilient, responsive public services through the use of the cloud. At the core of the team are former public service executives who have led nation-scale digital transformation.
