POSITION SUMMARY:
This independent and highly analytical position is responsible for conducting research, analysis, and production activities within the Office of General Counsel Public Records and Records Production Unit.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
+ Conducting independent and complex research, analysis, and production of records related to the obligations of the agency’s Florida Statutes Chapters 27, 92, 119, 120, and 943 records production obligations;
+ Receiving records requests, assisting with research and the procurement process;
+ Reviewing records for all applicable exemptions under current Florida or federal law and redacting exempt and confidential information;
+ Ensuring prompt delivery of all nonexempt records to the requestor;
+ Ensuring all requests are properly docketed, invoiced, prepared and disseminated, and closed upon completion;
+ Assisting with record production in Capital Post Conviction cases pursuant to the Rules of Criminal Procedure;
+ Assisting the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Assistant General Counsels with legal issues related to the Department’s obligations under Florida Statutes Chapters 27, 92, 119, 120, and 943;
+ Providing support in contacting FDLE liaisons or staff in program areas to determine if their files contain information relative to or additional to documents already received;
+ Providing support for liaison efforts with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) and FDLE Investigations & Forensic Science, Regional Operations Centers, FDLE field offices, and CJIS regarding FDLE member D.A.V.I.D. use as reported by DHSMV; and
+ Providing administrative and consultant support to management and the Office of General Counsel in various miscellaneous duties as called upon.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
+ Knowledge of the procedures and techniques for effective verbal and written communication;
+ Knowledge of Florida Statutes and Attorney General’s opinions as related to public records and dissemination of records to various entities;
+ Ability to read and understand criminal investigative and intelligence data;
+ Ability to collect, evaluate, analyze, and summarize criminal investigative and intelligence data;
+ Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and complete work assignments;
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
+ Ability to utilize equipment required for the position;
+ Ability to work independently; and
+ Ability to keep detailed records and notes.

BASE SALARY:
+ $41,200.00

BACKGROUND:
FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant’s immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting. This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.
NOTES:
Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
