Job Title: Government Relations & Social Purpose Intern

Job Summary: The Government Relations & Social Purpose (Corporate Social Responsibility) Intern will assist with internal and external analytical research to support the company’s related initiatives. With a focus on Government Relations, the intern will support written/verbal communication to stakeholders on legislative and regulatory issues at the local, state and federal level that impact the convenience retail and fuel industry. The intern will assist with the collection and reporting of Wawa’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data. The intern will research trends in sustainability, public policy, and/or other department initiatives and identify potential opportunities for Wawa to advance in these areas.
Principal Duties:
Assist with the preparation of various internal and external communications.Assist with research related to global, local, and emerging trends in Government Relations & Social Purpose.Research, read, interpret and report out on specific legislation and file appropriately.Update Wawa’s political issues matrix and the communications directory.Assist with the development and preparation of various materials, communications, and presentations. Provide analytical support with sustainability/environmental, social, governance (ESG) data which includes but is not limited to GHG emissions, waste, and food waste data. Assist with the preparation of briefing documents for meetings with elected officials or internal stakeholders.Potential to support planning and logistics related to the annual internal Social Purpose Summit. Perform general clerical activities as needed.Attend specific meetings and report out to the team.Perform duties and special projects as assigned by the team.Support other department initiatives as needed.Essential Functions:

Pursuing bachelor’s degree with a concentration or major in Political Science, Government and/or Public Policy.Demonstrated interest in Sustainability, CSR, and/or ESG.
