Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation of updates to City and County development-related Code updates, including analysis of adopted codes and drafting and review of new code language, with an emphasis on zoning and subdivision related regulations;Provide insight on best practices, current trends, regional and local political dynamics, and anticipated changes to statutory authority pertaining to County and City regulation of development;Facilitate stakeholder meetings with local officials, members of the public, the development community, participating utilities and governmental agencies, and other interested parties. Distill feedback; andProvide practical recommendations and solutions that consider competing interests and perspectives, best practices, and other prevailing factors that impact development.Required Qualifications:
15+ years of Texas-based experience in municipal and/or County operations and administration. Experience overseeing Planning, Engineering, Building, Permitting, and/or Code Enforcement functions strongly preferred;Degree in Public Administration, Planning, or related field from an accredited university. Master’s degree preferred;Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook);Strong problem-solving and documentation skills; andExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.Preferred Experience, Competencies, Capabilities:
Proficiency with State statues pertaining to City and County regulation of development and related health, safety, and sanitation codes;Proficiency with establishing and adhering to permitting processes, assessing their strengths and weaknesses, and providing recommendations for improvements to procedure and implementation;Proficiency with administration of code enforcement programs;Ability to distinguish between theoretical solutions and those that are based on the needs, resources, and will of the individual community; andAbility to effectively engage with parties related to the development process, including government officials, citizens, land owners, developers and their consultants, and service providers.As part of our team, your expertise and leadership will make a meaningful impact on our projects and the communities we serve.
