Scope of Job
The Center for Mexican American Studies is seeking to hire master-level students to be employed as Graduate Assistants throughout the 2023-2024 academic year. In the role of Graduate Assistant, the student will have the opportunity to support the Center with programming, activities, and research agenda while gaining valuable mentorship and professional development opportunities. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, duties will vary depending on the project and assigned research/scholarly functions or other creative projects for the Center, including but not limited to:
· Coordinates communications for projects and activities that support the Center for Mexican American Studies under the mission and vision of the B3HSI Integration Office.
· Creates, develops, and implements strategic marketing and communications plans for the department in line with the overall university goals and strategies.
· Design publications and other informational materials for various departmental activities.
· Coordinates communiqués via various media resources.
· Writes to communicate information to a diverse population of students, staff, and faculty.
Discipline Specific Required Qualifications
· Responsible, enthusiastic, independent, adheres to deadlines, and takes initiative.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Able to work well with diverse groups of people and have excellent communication skills.
· Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bilingual, Bicultural, and/or Biliterate, preferably in English and Spanish
· Experience developing content and engagement with social media platforms and programming activities.
· Experience with writing, marketing, and/or research related activities
· Research, writing, or marketing backgrounds preferred or similar field.
· Knowledge of HTML , Canvas, CSS , Adobe Photoshop or other graphic design tools a plus.
