Department Civic and Community Engagement Local Title Graduate Assistant for Civic and Community Engagement Budget Title Graduate Assistant 10 Months Rank/Grade T8 Line Number 90001 Salary Range $2750 FTE Part-Time Negotiating Unit GSEU FLSA Exempt Department Website http://cce.buffalostate.edu Brief Job Description The Graduate Assistant for Civic & Community Engagement will support Buffalo State’s deep civic and community engagement work. Responsibilities will include: + Assist in the coordination of community-engaged learning activities such as facilitating student service-learning orientations, supporting community partners’ classroom presentations, facilitating SUNY Service-Learning Agreements, and conducting community partner site visits. + Collaborate to expand community engagement website presence, social media, and other communication tools and educational resources to campus and community constituents. + Assist with civic and community engagement event planning (e.g., service days, Celebration of Community Engagement). + Assist with the coordination and communication efforts of the Community Partnership Council and/or the WNY Service-Learning Coalition. + Attend staff meetings, community-engaged learning meetings, and meetings with supervisor on a weekly basis. + Work closely with CCE professional staff, work-study students, and interns on various projects. This will include helping to supervise undergraduate student work. + Assist the CCE staff in other aspects of the program, as needed. + Be available to work occasional nights and weekends and the week before classes begin. Required Qualifications + Student must be enrolled and maintain full-time status in a Master’s program at SUNY Buffalo State (minimum 6 credit hours per semester) for the Spring 2025 semester. + Civic and community engagement experience (e.g., service-learning, volunteering, activism). + Strong organizational skills—attention to detail is extremely important in this position. + Excellent interpersonal communication skills (both oral and written), including an interest in developing writing and public speaking skills. + Interest in working with diverse populations, including first-generation students, students of color, and community organizations serving the diverse Buffalo population. Interest in social justice work. Preferred Qualifications + Computer proficiency (database management/word processing/Excel) and social media experience. + Experience organizing and planning volunteer or other community engagement activities.
