The University will provide reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities. **JOB SUMMARY** The Graduate Assistant for Student Activities is a part-time (20 hours/week) graduate assistantship that provides leadership and direction to the Hamline University Programming Board and assists in the facilitation and assessment of a comprehensive Student Activities and Leadership Development program. We seek an energetic and organized individual who is highly committed to student development and the overall student experience, who exhibits an understanding of a multicultural community and enjoys the collaborative environment of a small University. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES** + Manage assessment of all programs and events hosted by the Hamline University Programming Board and Student Activities and Leadership Development office. + Oversee coordination of 40-50 events per year hosted by Programming Board students. + Coordinate major campus wide programs, including Fall Welcome Week, Homecoming Week, Spring Welcome Week, Fireball Dance and the End of Semester/Year Parties. + Recruit, select and train the Programming Board student staff. + Advise and manage Programming Board VIP volunteers. + Implement a strategic advising and evaluation approach to foster learning, growth and development among members of the Programming Board staff as individuals and as a team. + Serve as the budget manager for the Hamline University Programming Board Account. + Develop and maintain relationships with entertainment agencies, vendors, campus departments, student organizations and other entities to encourage collaboration and strong partnerships. + Supports, assists and participates in other office initiatives and programs. + During summer months, coordinate all aspects of Programming Board summer training, Welcome Week and provide summer orientation support. **REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES** + Ability to create, develop, organize and implement various strategies in fostering student learning, growth, and development. + Ability to interpret and facilitate policies and procedures related to student activities. + Outstanding ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities and tasks. + Demonstrated strong attention to detail. + Ability to coach, provide feedback to and guide others. + Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills. + Proven ability to work under stress and tight deadlines. + Outstanding organizational and planning skills. + Working knowledge of Google Suite. **MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPECTATIONS** + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college. + Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as required and to travel to off-campus locations. + Enrollment in a Master’s degree program at an accredited college or university in Higher Education, Student Personnel or a related field at an accredited institution of higher education during the 2025-2026 Academic Year. **PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/EXPECTATIONS** + Experience in event planning. + Experience with entertainment contract negotiations and major event coordination. + Experience with budget development and management. **WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT** Must be able to perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation: + Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time. + Must be able to travel to on and off campus locations. + Must be willing to work some evening and weekend hours. **ADDITIONAL INFORMATION** + This is a part time, 20 hour per week, 10-month exempt position, for one academic year. + Preferred term of work is July 21, 2025 – May 20, 2026, but flexible. + This position reports to the Director, Student Activities and Leadership Development. + This position advises 8-10 student workers. **Compensation/remuneration: ($15,000.00 annually)** The Graduate Assistant for Student Activities will earn a monthly stipend $15,000.00 annually. This compensation is based upon completion of 20 hours per week in the office. Given the nature of our work, hours may vary slightly on occasion. During peak time periods (Welcome Week, major events, etc.) hours may be longer, but flexibility during slower times will be provided. Additional compensation of campus housing may be available, but will require the Graduate Assistant to maintain active status on the Residential Life duty rotation schedule in addition to their Student Activities responsibilities.
