Position Information Position Information Position Availability: Position Title: Graduate Assistant I/ Lit Studies: Requisition Number: 0406073513 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: ELC/Literature Responsibilities: Eugene Lang College is hiring a Graduate Student to provide departmental support for the Literary Studies program and to manage the departamental blog, WritLit. Duties include maintaining an updated events calendar, proofing content for design and links, communication scheduling, promoting departmental events, and assisting with faculty projects. The schedule is flexible and the duties vary based on projects and department needs. In addition to covering Literary Studies events and featured faculty on the WritLit Blog, students might be assigned remote office hours to complete standard office tasks, including assisting with special projects, including event organization and promotion. The ideal candidate will act as a student ambassador for the WritLit blog, championing the interests of the student body and providing a crucial student perspective to anticipate the needs of our blog users, advise on content topics and relevant digital trends, and unlock key insights that will drive a successful blog strategy. Only students actively enrolled in the work-study program are eligible for this role.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Post, update, and proofread content on the department blog, WRITLIT. Work alongside the Senior Secretary to analyze usage analytics to devise content strategy. Maintain student and faculty mailing lists. Update information and data entry on the WRITLIT blog. Examples include new course offerings, faculty news, and maintaining an updated list of online events. Post Lit Studies updates, announcements, event recordings, and faculty articles. Maintain an up-to-date google calendar of Lit Studies events. Send calendar invites to faculty. Email event reminders to our student and faculty listserv. Assist with proofing curriculum reports and syllabi collection processes
Assist with communication schedules for departmental deadlines (capstones, submissions, contests, etc). Collect and track submissions. Occasionally schedule meetings using doodle polls. Schedule and execute email announcements and department newsletters (Mailchimp) to targeted faculty and students Execute graphic design for banners, marketing collateral, GIFs, and video for blog, social media, and event posts that appeal to current students Design promotional print materials (posters, flyers, PDFs, JPEG) for our department events that appeal to current students. Assist with managing panels for Zoom meetings and events as needed. Help with the logistics of IT set-up for online events, including Livestream processes. Assist with editing/ correcting Zoom recording transcriptions for event captioning. Manage and update all current and future Literary Studies social media channels. Work alongside the Senior Secretary to brainstorm and execute content ideas for the monthly program newsletter. Plan content calendar and curate relevant materials. Conduct independent research to identify strategic content offerings such as writing contests, literary inspired social media accounts, and event partnerships for newsletter and blog posts. Publish and proof content on departmental web page and Medium page. Ensure voice, copy, and images remain on-message, follow university guidelines and remain in keeping with The New School’s values. Work with Marketing and Communication for public events to ensure consistent use of branding, design, voice, and hashtags for program events. Organize and archive program materials, documents, and multimedia for our records. General assistance as special projects arise. Perform quality control on all LitStudies digital materials, web pages, links, and PDF downloads, ensuring copy is up to date and style remains consistent throughout.

Hourly Rate : $18.00 Minimum Qualifications: ● Actively enrolled in work-study program
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Self-starter, able to work independently with little supervision
● Detail-oriented, strong organization and multitasking abilities
● Good researching skills
● Able to take direction and responsibility for assignments, follows through on jobs until
completion
● Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Some experience with WordPress and social
media outlets (Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, etc) strongly preferred.
● Enthusiastic attitude, polite with a great sense of humor
● Professional demeanor and strong customer service skills Preferred Qualifications: Experience with flyer design (Canva or comparable) and Adobe Suite a plus
