Graduate Construction Engineer

We are hiring for a Graduate Construction Engineer to join our Materials Engineering team on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Haddon Heights, NJ.

 

We are looking for someone that wants to work with their hands as well as their mind!

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work in the field at building construction sites as a Quality Assurance [QA] Representative; this involves observing, documenting / reporting on construction work, and performing construction materials testing. Checking materials for compliance with drawings and/or specifications; this involves working with reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel, spray applied proofing, soils, and/or foundation construction. Performing field testing of plastic concrete, grout, mortar & block, fireproofing, soils and/or Non-Destructive Testing [NDT] of welds. Communicate / coordinate with Engineers, Contractors, and clients to provide status updates. Work construction hours (which may include overtime as well as off-hour work schedules). Additional duties may be assigned, as needed.

 

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering-oriented field of study (preferably Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering, Materials Engineering, etc.) – RECENT AND UPCOMING GRADUATES ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!

 

This person will be expected to work in the field regularly, so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.  Relevant travel costs (e.g.:  mileage, parking, & tolls) will be reimbursed for work-required trips.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

FE / EIT in NJ is strongly preferred! NJ DCA Special Inspector certification (e.g.:  Structural, Concrete, etc.) is a plus. Completion of relevant coursework in Structural Engineering and/or Construction Engineering, especially with relation to Materials / Inspections. Experience working on construction projects is a plus! Proven ability to read drawings & specifications, write reports, create sketches, and communicate technical details to non-technical audiences. Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications. Strong analytical skills. Strong attention-to-detail skills with the proven ability to work with a high-level of accuracy. Proven ability to work independently in a team environment with minimal supervision. Proven ability to work in a dependable, self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
