4 Year DegreeThe Saint Mary’s College Athletic Communications Office, in partnership with the SMC Graduate Kinesiology program, is looking for an individual to assist with the operations of the Sports Information Team.

This position, designed for current SMC Grad Kines students, is attached to a $2500 Fellowship award in Spring/Fall semesters and an hourly wage.
Our Graduate Coordinator Fellowships provide opportunities for our students to gain real-world, hands-on experience working in an NCAA Division I Athletic Department—in fact, many of our Coordinator Fellowship graduates have gone on to work full-time at other universities and athletic departments in their field post-graduation.

Responsibilities Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Sports Information office. This includes, but is not limited to: writing press releases, game recaps, and feature stories for assigned sports. Other tasks include maintaining statistics, record books, photo galleries, managing the athletics website, and photographing the athletes. Serve as the primary contact for assigned sports while aiding in the coverage of other in-season teams. Conduct all aspects of pre-game, in-game, and post-game coverage for assigned home contests. Promote Saint Mary’s athletics through social media including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Interact with local and national media outlets. Help coaches and student-athletes schedule and conduct interviews. Score games using StatCrew or NCAA LiveStats. Produce game notes, flyers and previews. Evening and weekend work is required.
The person in this role must be enrolled in Saint Mary's MA in Kinesiology graduate program and students starting in Spring 2025 will likely complete the program in May 2026. Classes begin on Feb. 3rd.
Eligibility Requirements
Must be admitted and enrolled in the Graduate Kinesiology program with a minimum of 5 units during each Fall/Spring semester in order to maintain eligibility. Students are eligible to continue in the position during their time as a Graduate Kinesiology student assuming successful progress in the program and approval of the supervisor. Available to work 20 hours a week Strong desire to pursue a career in communications, external relations, and/or broadcasting. Previous work with Adobe Creative Cloud, preferred Ability to work weekends, nights and odd hoursSaint Mary's MA in Kinesiology is a graduate program tailored towards those looking to work in management, organizational, and administrative settings (think Athletic Director, Operations staff, coaching, and more) in athletics, sports, and fitness and we offer a smaller, tight-knit program that has over 45 years of history in the Bay Area.
