Purpose:

As a Graduate Engineer, you will support the engineering team in driving continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance activities and ensuring efficient project and change management is applied to plant changes / modifications. The role will also involve developing processes, monitoring performance metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and implementing Lean working principles to optimize workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

Project and Change Management:

Assist in the planning, execution, and management of engineering maintenance supporting projects team.Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver maintenance projects on time and within budget.Ensure compliance with project goals and change control processes as part of project handovers.Support in identifying risks and providing mitigation strategies for the production process in relation to plant maintenance.

Change Control:

Administer the change control process to ensure that all engineering changes are systematically documented and approved.Monitor the impact of changes on production processes and equipment performance.Work with stakeholders to ensure that changes are implemented effectively with minimal disruption.

Task and Routine Development:

Develop and refine tasks, routines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and consistency within maintenance operations.Support risk assessment development for maintenance activities.Collaborate with the operations team to create and maintain workflows that support optimal productivity.Support in training staff on newly developed tasks and procedures.

Procedure Development:

Work with senior engineers and management to develop, document, and implement new procedures aimed at improving safety, quality, and efficiency.Ensure all procedures align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Tracking:

Monitor and analyze OEE data to identify opportunities for improvement in equipment utilization and performance.Collaborate with the production team to reduce downtime and improve throughput.Generate reports and provide insights on equipment efficiency to support decision-making.

Lean Working Principles:

Actively contribute to the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles across the engineering team and wider organization.Participate in value stream mapping, 5S implementation, and other Lean initiatives to drive waste reduction and process optimization.Identify and recommend areas for process improvement through the use of Lean tools and techniques.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field).Specialised Background: If you're specialising in Manufacturing or Management, a bachelor's or Mastersdegree in these areas would be a significant advantage, as it demonstrates a deeper understanding of the specific processes and principles involved.Technical Skills:Understanding of project and change management methodologies.Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping).Knowledge of OEE tracking and data analysis.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project) is a plus.Personal Skills:Strong technical ability with problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement.

Desirable Experience:

Internship or work placement in a manufacturing or engineering environment.Experience with change control processes or project management.Exposure to Lean or Six Sigma principles.
