Pennoni is hiring for a Graduate Environmental Scientist to contribute to EHS (Environmental, Health, & Safety) projects on a full-time, direct basis while based out of our office in the Mechanicsburg, PA area. This person will be expected to contribute to our preparation / submission efforts for environmental permitting applications & reports.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of Engineers, Scientists, Planners, and other professionals in order to assemble regulatory-compliant environmental plans, reports, permits, and clearance documents. Plan / complete field work and sampling tasks for mapping & reporting purposes. Prepare environmental applications and technical reports. There will be a mixture of field work and office work in this role. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirement:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Ecology, or a related field of study); recent graduates are encouraged to apply!
This person will be expected to work in the field so they will be required to possess a Valid Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training is a plus! Exposure to environmental documentation & regulatory submissions associated with land development, municipal, and transportation projects. Knowledge of US Army Corps of Engineers, PADEP, NEPA, and local land use / development regulatory programs. Basic understanding of addressing project impacts to wetlands, surface waters & water quality, riparian zones, endangered species, stormwater management, noise, and/or visual resources. Proficiency on relevant technical tools (e.g.: Microsoft Office software, CADD, GIS mapping software, etc.); experience with AutoCAD and/or ArcGIS is a plus! Strong analytical skills. Strong attention-to-detail skills with the proven ability to work with a high-level of accuracy. Proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
