Position Information Posting Number 20112990 Position Title Graduate Program Certification Officer FTE 1.0 Position Type Staff Department College of Education & Human Devel Dept Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role: The Graduate Program Certification Officer for the College of Education and Human Development will review and recommend graduate educator preparation candidates for Texas Educator Certification; Assist with approving candidates to register for the appropriate TExES Exam(s), maintain local, state, and national test data for accountability; maintain classified and confidential files; develop and maintain relationships with administrators, faculty and staff; serve on departmental, college and university committees as necessary; and participate in professional development as necessary. Always maintain confidentiality. What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities: + Recommends undergraduate and graduate students as candidates for Texas Educator Certification. Evaluates transcripts, grade point averages, verifies degree is conferred, and program requirements are met. + Approves candidates to register for the appropriate TExES Exam for credentialing and licensure and verifies passing state exam results. + Maintains system data and updates testing and credentialing data for local, state and national reporting. Works with Smartsheets, FormStack and spreadsheets for tracking student status and testing results data. + Communicates issues with certification and testing to Director of TEA Compliance and Field Placement and work with stakeholders to recommend solutions for resolutions. Generates reports as requested for necessary updates. + Communicates with public schools to identify candidates for employment opportunities. Liaison between students and employers, and Texas Education Agency and other out-of-state agencies. Answers questions regarding state rules and classroom teaching certifications. + Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to the needs of the university. Key Competencies: (KSAs – Knowledge Skills and Abilities) + Ability to multi-task and work with complex administrative processes. + Knowledge of educator preparation programs, certification, field experiences and clinical administrative procedures and practices Texas. + Strong organizational skills and the ability to compile and analyze large amount of data · Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets. + Ability to work independently and complete detailed tasks within deadlines + Strong written and verbal communication skills are a requirement + Must have strong interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy with administrators and students, and staff. Physical Requirements: + Able to lift 25 lbs. and be able to perform a variety of physical tasks including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, stair climbing and walking between buildings. Job Conditions: + Job occurs in an office environment. + Some nights and weekends may be required.
