ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for the purchasing of grain through all elevators and for the selling of rail and truck grain into all markets for the elevator. Responsible for grain hedging strategies and the execution of a risk management program through the use of exchange traded futures and options. Negotiates with brokers, millers, truckers, terminals, etc. in order to establish cash grain bids and sales prices. Merchandises grain within the policy guidelines set by the board of directors. Seeks new business in the authorized trade territory. Will assist with over the counter duties, operation of truck scales, rail billing and grain sales accounting. Will work with operations manager on grain logistics and trucking dispatch. Utilize grain marketing strategies, target customers and contact producers to enhance the volume of grain handled. Responsible for interpreting marketing reports, technical information and other market data so that appropriate market information and recommendations can be disseminated to customers. Performs related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Normally requires a college degree, preferably in Ag Economics, Ag Marketing or Agri-Business and two or more years of experience in marketing and commodity trading.  Requires a Series III Commodity Brokers License and other appropriate licenses or certifications or the ability to obtain these licenses.  Should have knowledge of cooperative philosophies and principles. Proven professional communication, presentation, persuasion, and customer service skills. Proven planning, organization, and problem-solving skills. Must be available to work hours beyond those considered normal and available for overnight travel. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license to travel and be available for night meetings. Must have basic computer skills.
