Grant Funded - Executive Director, Health Systems Science Innovation Collaborative

Belmont University’s Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine seeks an innovative and mission-driven leader to serve as the Executive Director of the Health Systems Science Innovation Collaborative (HSSIC). This role is foundational to establishing and advancing an innovative collaborative focused on research, education, and partnerships that shape healthcare’s future. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Health Systems Science Department, the Executive Director will strategically guide the operational, financial, and research activities of the Collaborative, working to empower healthcare professionals and patients alike. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record in strategic leadership, healthcare innovation, and cross-sector partnerships.

Primary position responsibilities:

Serve as a visionary leader and advisor, shaping the Collaborative’s long-term strategy, governance, and financial models to align with Belmont’s mission of transformative healthcare education and delivery.Drive the development and execution of a strategic plan centered on HSSIC’s mission, focusing on four areas: Global and Environmental Health, the Business of Health from a patient-centered perspective, Health Contexts, and the Intersection of Technology and Personal Health.Engage a broad spectrum of stakeholders in aligning the Collaborative’s goals with national and global healthcare imperatives.Oversee the day-to-day operations, including resource allocation, staff leadership, budget management, and regulatory compliance, ensuring alignment with Belmont’s institutional objectives.Develop robust operational processes that support program scalability, optimized service delivery, and continuous improvement of the Collaborative’s initiatives.Collaborate with Belmont’s finance, legal, and human resources departments to ensure seamless and compliant operational practices.Cultivate and manage partnerships across healthcare organizations, government entities, technology companies, academic institutions, and patient advocacy groups to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration.Act as the primary liaison with these partners, fostering alliances that drive the Collaborative’s mission and support pioneering healthcare solutions.Build HSSIC’s reputation as a leader in health systems science through publications, speaking engagements, media representation, and strategic thought leadership.Represent the Collaborative at conferences, campus events, and in public media to enhance its visibility and influence within the healthcare ecosystem.Lead fundraising efforts, cultivating relationships with philanthropic foundations, corporate sponsors, and investors to secure financial support for HSSIC’s projects.Ensure alignment of funding initiatives with the Collaborative’s mission and Belmont University’s strategic goals.Drive the implementation of core programs and services, setting measurable objectives and success metrics that reflect the Collaborative’s mission and track program impact.Focus on program scaling and continuous improvement to meet the evolving needs of healthcare professionals, patients, and community stakeholders.Lead the Collaborative’s research initiatives, promoting evidence-based healthcare solutions that address front-line healthcare challenges and maximize outcomes for patients and providers.Oversee an innovation hub that supports cutting-edge research in areas like healthcare delivery optimization, patient-centered outcomes, and technology integration, with an emphasis on value-based care.The above statements describe the job’s essential responsibilities and requirements.  They are not an exhaustive list of the duties that may be assigned to job incumbents.
