Job Description:

Supports Grant Accountants by providing training, mentoring and professional development opportunities.  Trains team members in the use of myUFL, UFIRST, OnBase, MYinvestigator, myUFMarketplace and other university systems. Ensures team members understand and implement university directives and policies such as travel, procurement, cost transfer, effort, cost accounting cost sharing and others as they relate to sponsored programs.  Ensures team members have a fundamental understanding of and are able to implement Federal and sponsor specific rule sets and regulations.

Manages daily post award activities for the assigned portfolio.  This includes ensuring expenditures are appropriate; analyzing and reconciling projects through the use of reports and queries from the University financial system; preparing financial reports and invoices based on that reconciliation; managing the AR report by contacting sponsors who have failed to make payment as defined in the award document; and when appropriate, approving and processing budget transfer requests.  This requires knowledge of electronic invoicing, cost sharing and all revenue related activities.

Works closely with unit team members to ensure accuracy and timeliness of award set up, reporting, invoicing, collections and closeout. Monitors the timeliness and quality of award set up, reporting, invoicing, collections and closeout through review of management reports and team member’s work.  Evaluates team members on the performance of these duties. Assists team members with complex items and resolution of issues as they arise.

Escalates issues as appropriate. Works closely with local unit administrators, PI’s and senior leadership within Contracts & Grants to resolve issues for the assigned portfolio as appropriate.

Works with the executive leadership team for Contracts & Grants Accounting to develop and implement directives & procedures as well as templates and training programs.

Active participant in meetings with internal and external constituents.  These include regular meetings with the Contracts and Grants leadership team that allow us to evaluate efficiencies, workload, provide training, and better assist our team members and customers.  Conducts training sessions and makes presentations at outreach events or conferences as needed.  Attend trainings and conferences as opportunities become available.  Participates in testing and system upgrade initiatives.

Expected Salary:

Salary commensurate with experience and expertise

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience in contract and grant accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to function under highly stressful circumstances.
