The Grants Advancement Manager plays a critical role in securing funding to support the strategic initiatives of the Mayor’s office and city. This position is responsible for identifying, researching, and pursuing grant opportunities that align with the Mayor's goals. Reporting to the Director of Advancement and Strategic Partnerships, the Grants Advancement Manager will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including the Grants Writer, to develop compelling grant proposals that clearly articulate the need, potential impact, and sustainability of the proposed projects and programs. The role also includes coordinating and tracking grant applications across city departments to ensure alignment and maximize funding opportunities. We seek to secure funding to support programs that address the needs of our diverse population. Mayoral staff (non-civil service) receive 15 days of Paid Time Off and 12 sick days annually. Typical Duties + Grant Identification & Research: + Proactively research and identify potential grant opportunities from federal, state, local, and private funding sources. + Assess the alignment of grant opportunities with the Mayor’s office and city goals and priorities. + Grant Proposal Development: + Collaborate with Mayor’s office staff, department heads, and other relevant stakeholders to develop or assist in the development of grant proposals. + Ensure that grant proposals are comprehensive, compelling, and demonstrate the need, impact, and sustainability of the proposed projects or programs. + Coordinate the collection and preparation of necessary documentation and supporting materials for grant submissions. + Stakeholder Coordination: + Serve as a liaison between the Mayor’s office, city departments, partners, and stakeholders in the grant development process. + Facilitate meetings and communications among stakeholders to ensure alignment and collaboration on grant proposals. + Grant Application Tracking & Reporting: + Establish and maintain a centralized system to track the progress and status of grant applications across city government. + Provide regular updates and reports to the Director of Advancement & Strategic Partnerships and other relevant parties on the status of grant applications. + Monitor and ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including reporting and documentation. + Capacity Building: + Provide training, resources, and support to city departments to enhance their ability to identify and pursue grant opportunities. + Stay informed of trends and best practices in grant writing and funding strategies and share knowledge with colleagues and stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, or a related field and 3 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or a related role, including at least 1 year of federal grants or cooperative agreements experience under Code of Federal Relations (CFR) Title 2 - Grants and Agreements. *Must submit a resume and cover letter.* Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply. Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + Experience with grant writing, fundraising, or a related role in a government or non-profit setting. + Proficiency in using grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite. + Relevant professional certification(s) (e.g., CGMS, GPCI, CFRE, CGFM, etc.) + Knowledge of federal and state funded grant programs and initiatives, as well as knowledge and experience with 2 CFR 200 grants and agreements procurement and compliance standards. + Experience working collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, community organizations, and private partners. + Experience addressing strategic issues in grant administration operations including issues with complex political and programmatic elements. + Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and work in a fast-paced flexible environment.
