PurposeThe Population Research Center is looking for a Grants and Contracts Specialist to assist with grant submissions and grant management. Position will be funded for three years with possibility of additional years.
ResponsibilitiesSupport faculty, graduate students, and other research staff at each stage of their proposal submission including preparing budgets, budget justifications and other non-scientific sections of grant applications, communicating with senior personnel to obtain biosketches and letters of support as needed, and contact subcontractors for budgetary and proposal documentation needed for submission.
Check proposal formatting, ensure compliance with the funding agency requirements and upload proposal sections to appropriate online systems by deadlines.
Prepare UT electronic forms for review and approval by the OSP and act as liaison between OSP and the PI to ensure compliance, completeness of sponsor and UT requirements, and timely approval.
Maintain current knowledge of funding agency requirements most frequently utilized by PRC faculty.
Support faculty and research staff in preparing and submitting post-submission materials such as other support information, Just-In time information, current/pending support, and budget revisions in a timely manner.
Support faculty and research staff in preparing and submitting post-award documents including annual research grant reports, publications compliance, prior approval requests and other documents as needed.
Assist faculty with post-award processes including submission of new and incremental account budgets to OSP, assist in the outgoing subcontracting process ensuring correct subcontract documentation is submitted to OSP, and maintain contact with subcontractor until contracts are fully executed as well as manage renewals of subcontracts each year.
Help maintain accurate database information for the PRC grants team to ensure timely data is captured and readily available for various stakeholders including the PRC Director, Assistant Directors, and Dean as needed as well as annually for reporting purposes.
Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years of experience in the preparation, processing, and negotiating of research grants and contract proposals.Experience with research proposal submissions or post award maintenance & compliance in a research unit or other academic setting.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications 3+ years of experience in grant proposal preparation and processing, including drafting budgets, interpreting guidelines, and established knowledge of university and sponsor guidelines and regulations as well as policies and procedures. Experience with external agency proposal-preparation, budget development, and submissions systems for NSF and NIH.Experience with the submission and post award administration of NIH grants including the submission of RPPRs.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work on overlapping and time-sensitive proposal and reporting projects as well as the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently.Salary Range
$58,000 + depending on qualifications
