Grants Director - REMOTE
Major Responsibilities:Responsible for working with system and site-based program leaders as well as strategic and community partners to support program development efforts. Leads efforts in grant planning. Coordinates the gathering of program and other information to prepare general and project-specific proposals. Composes and prepares proposals, applications, and supporting documents as required by funders.Develops timely and competitive proposal submissions that include sound program designs, goals and objectives, action plans and budgets. Increases funding for system and site initiatives.Acquires and maintains sound knowledge of Advocate Aurora Health system priorities as well as an inventory of funding needs, mission-driven programs, and emerging strengths to develop competitive strategies and proposals. Uses this knowledge to develop organizational profiles and to identify and understand current/new projects and programs for which grants will be sought.Assists the Vice President of Grants and Program Development in the creation and implementation of strategies to augment and diversify the foundation, corporate, and government portfolios that support Advocate Aurora Health.Develops and implements strategies to secure new and continuation grants for projects and programs. Works with system and program leaders to determine funding needs and help match program needs—current and projected, with potential funding sources.Engages in prospect research activities on a routine basis to identify new foundation, corporate, and government funding opportunities. Assists in defining and implementing strategies and processes that will assure timely access to information about funding opportunities.Oversees donor stewardship activities in response to grants and institutional gifts; including but not limited to correspondence to respectfully acknowledge the gift and donor relationship. Defines and implements systems to assure adequate monitoring of program outcomes and timely reports as required by the funder. Helps manage a deliverable calendar and production process for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Works with program leaders to collect and report on outcomes and achievements. Arranges and leads site visits with prospect and current institutional donors.Partners with prospect researchers of Advocate Aurora Health Foundations, External Relations, and Government and Community Relations leaders to identify potential funders. Works with system and site-based team leaders to identify potential programs and opportunities for philanthropic support.Supports and leads prospect review sessions to develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. Implements and updates strategies. Cultivates and maintains relationships with health care influencers and corporate executives as needed. Supervises staff as needed.Contributes to the development of program-focused campaigns to advance achievement of Advocate Aurora Health’s strategic vision. Collaborates with leadership to maximize integrated fundraising efforts on behalf of the system as a whole, sites, and mission programs.Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.Develops and recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws applicable to the organization's business.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:None Required.
Education Required:Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.
Experience Required:Typically requires 7 years of experience in business writing or grant writing.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Strong program planning and persuasive grant-writing skills.Must possess high-level competencies, including: the ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex grant applications; the ability to manage interdisciplinary and/or multi-site collaborative teams; the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting all required deadlines; the ability to engage and supervise other Grants Team members to produce proposals and supporting documents; and the ability to articulate Advocate's mission and vision in a manner that makes a strong case for funding. Excellent relationship building skills, project development skills including program identification & developing action plans & budgets. Excellent proposal writing skills. Knowledge of national & local health care issues & trends.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.Exposed to a normal office environment.
