Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Grants Manager.

 
The Grants Manager works as a core member of the Research Administration POD with responsibility for the non-financial pre-and post-award of grants and contracts for Pediatrics, Center for Human Genetics and Genomics, and other departments as assigned. (S)he will be responsible for accurate grant and budget submissions, reporting, financial planning and compliance. (S)he will serve as principal source of information on grant and financial policies and procedures including federal funding regulations, and advises faculty. The Grants Manager contributes to all aspects of research administration. This position reports to the Director of the Research Administration POD.

Job Responsibilities:

Manages a financial analyst that supports post award operations across departments served.Works with Principal Investigator, POD AD, administrators, and other teams across SRO to ensure all the sponsored project activities are managed appropriately and to ensure timely and accurate reporting.Provides a demonstrated knowledge of intramural and extramural government regulations, policies and procedures to support faculty and inquiries relating to post-award policies and practices.Reviews all ongoing literature regarding administrative changes and disseminates targeted and personalized alerts (e.g., NIH Guide, SPA announcements, Finance announcements, etc.).Interfaces with extramural and intramural grants/contracts officers and program officials on matters of grant administration and problem-solving, e.g., cost transfers, grant restrictions, etc.Works with departments served to accomplish strategic plans.Maintains current awareness of changes for new Federal regulations, maintains familiarity with trends, issues, and advances in grants administration through periodic review of relevant journals or other literature, and consults websites of professional organizations (e.g., NCURA, SRA).Readily accepts new responsibilities and assignments and recognizes when help is needed by others to offer guidance and assistance.Assists PIs in all aspects of grant management, including preparation of budgets and tables, maintenance of updated biosketches and other support forms and description of resources, management of subcontracts, completion of progress reports and financial status reports, and related tasks.Coordinates with PIs, administrators, Sponsored Programs Administration (SPA), and our contracts office to ensure successful submissions of RPPRs in advance of high volume deadlines.Reviews and ensures quality assurance for pre-award data input and management to ensure accurate reporting on grant activity.Works with Principal Investigator, POD AD, administrators, and other teams across SRO to manage research dashboard performanceServes as a resource to Principal Investigators in grant and contract budget development according to sponsor and NYUGSOM guidelines.Generates and tracks project level payments; responds to collaborator and vendor queries concerning payments. Processes, generates and tracks expenses.Reviews and approves all purchasing and payable requests; researches and reports any disparities reported on general ledger to ensure accurate budget, budget period, project period, facilities and administration rate, recording of expenditure and income information; prepares financial analyses, forecasts, projections, plans, and profit and loss statements.Responds to requests from the Principal Investigator, POD AD, administrators, and other teams across SRO and NYUGSOM leadership related to all financial status reports (FSR) and other financial reporting requirements.Works closely with Principal Investigator, POD AD, administrators, and other teams across SRO for all aspects of post-award fiscal and administrative management of awards including progress reports to NIH; subcontractor monitoring; staff salary allocations and requests for carryover, no cost extensions and reductions in effort. Ensures spending on awards is appropriate, within budget and allowable per funding entity guidelines. Submit re-budgets as appropriate.Develops and operationalizes negotiating strategies and develops creative solutions to budgetary issues. Maintains strong relationships with subcontracts, NYUGSOM departments, Principal Investigator, POD AD, administrators, other teams across SRO, and vendors.Exercises good judgment, based on gathering and analyzing, factual and objective data; interprets policies/procedures in order to make sound independent decisions.Implements effective financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance.Leads research grant post-award financial activity including fiscal management, operational compliance, and closeout reporting.

Additional Position Specific Responsibilities:


Successful candidate is customer service oriented and must have a thorough understanding of policies and procedures to ensure that research practices are in accordance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards. Demonstrated knowledge of managing large NIH grant budget including management of subcontract and vendor contracts. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to interact effectively with diverse internal and external professional groups and sponsors. Candidate must have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and a self-starter.

Minimum Qualifications:


To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree and minimum of 3-5 years of specific experience in research grants management. Masters degree preferred. Working knowledge of NIH and other federal, state and foundation regulations and requirements. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access and Internet applications. Ability to maintain extensive electronic documents and e-mail files. Demonstrated ability to be organized and flexible in an environment which requires continuous monitoring of priorities. Proven ability to meet deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail and able to manage confidential information. Strong written and oral communication skills. Highly goal oriented, self-motivated, and ability to work independently as well as in coordination with team.

Preferred Qualifications:


Masters degree in applicable field (MBA, MPA, MPH, etc.) a plus

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 - $99,750.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
