The Grants Specialist* monitors and coordinates the Pipeline for the Advancement of the Healthcare Workforce ( PATH ) Grant by tracking activities, budgets, and financial information in conjunction with the Dean and Associate Dean in Biological and Health Sciences Division (Program Coordinators). This includes collaborating with internal stakeholders to project manage grant activities, connecting with external stakeholders to interpret and implement grant requirements, creating and submitting grant reports, evaluating the effectiveness of activities, and following budget items through stages from approval to purchase to implementation. This position also supports other activities of the grant as needed. *This is a grant funded position; continued employment in this position is based on external funding sources. Required Qualification(s) + An Associate’s in accounting, business, communication or related field from an accredited institution. + A minimum of two (2) years of experience supporting or maintaining records related to grant awards, budgets, database management, data analysis/reporting or related work. + Possess strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills and acumen. + Possess excellent organizational and project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. + Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to access and analyze date and generate reports. + Advanced knowledge in using Excel for data analysis and reporting. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Summary of Essential Functions Project and Process Management: 85% + Create, implement, and monitor grant activities associated with the PATH grant. + Draft components of grant project plans and reports for submission to stakeholders. + Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to interpret grant, project grant activities, and implement grant initiatives. + Interpret grant activities and initiatives for placement in appropriate fiscal categories. + Work with program coordinator to determine if funds exist to run programs. + Ensure all expenditures and tracked and are appropriately recorded. + Consult with program coordinator in decisions regarding student stipends + Conduct evaluations of grant projects to interpret the level of effectiveness against established criteria. + Collaborate with program coordinators to prepare and submit quarterly reports on grant to program coordinators and Illinois Community College Board. + Monitor budgetary items through the stages of approval to purchase to implementation. + Maintain accurate records of projects/department activities and financials associated with grant. + Ensure all expenditures are appropriately recorded. + Analysis planned budget compared with actual expenses on regular basis. + Submit request for budget modifications as needed. + Process vendor payments as needed.
