Grants Specialist II - Remote Opportunity

The Grants Specialist II will work closely with the Manager of Grants and Contracts to support KinderCare’s strategic growth through external funding opportunities. This role is responsible for researching, identifying, and applying for grants in early childhood education and care. The successful candidate will craft compelling grant proposals, collaborate with various internal teams, and maintain detailed documentation of all grant activities. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about high-quality child care, enjoys working collaboratively, and has a curiosity about navigating sophisticated RFPs and technical documents.

Responsibilities:Conduct thorough research on potential grant opportunities and ensure alignment with KinderCare’s strategic goals.Work with teams within the organization to write convincing grant proposals that clearly explain the project’s purpose, plan, and expected results that align with the grant's rules.Partner with the finance team to create accurate budgets for the projects, making sure they meet the funder’s guidelines.Be responsible for and identify potential risks in grant applications or funded projects and propose mitigation strategies.Ensure timely submission of all grant applications and adherence to funding agency guidelines.Maintain organized records and databases for grants to ensure clarity, accountability, and compliance. Qualifications:

Requirements and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in grant writing, proposal writing, or a related field.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, with a focus on non-profit, public education, or human services.

Strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to translate sophisticated technical information into clear, compelling narratives.

Proficient in analyzing RFPs and technical documents, adept at identifying challenges and opportunities.

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with SharePoint or other shared document platforms and Smartsheet. Preferred: familiarity with grant tracking platforms.

Experience with federal grant writing, stakeholder management, or public Pre-K grant writing preferred.
