Team Summary
Under the direction of the Logistics and Transportation Supervisor, this position must perform the following non-exhaustive list of duties.
Wears specified personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times: hard hat, ear plugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, and protective gloves – to be worn when performing manual tasks. Reports all accidents, incidents, near misses, and injuries immediately to a supervisor.
Must follow all department safety rules and practices and standard operating procedures associated with the unloading of materials.
Responsible for the proper unloading of granules.
Takes representative samples of granules to the Laboratory for approval before unloading.
Compares incoming granules with standard bottles and reports on log sheet.
Responsible for the distribution of granules by color into the proper silos. Must know granule colors by their proper number.
Must be alert for any contamination or irregularity in materials being unloaded and report the same immediately.
Takes daily inventory of granules and filler and sends reports to Production Planner, Logistics Planner, Logistics & Transportation Supervisor, and Logistics Manager
Responsible for all equipment used in unloading and will report any mechanical failures immediately to the Supervisor.
Must safely operate locomotives to spot granule, asphalt and glass mat caps.
Operates all other equipment needed for proper unloading. Is responsible for proper storage of tools and other equipment used in unloading.
Is responsible for closing windows at silos and covering of unloading pits.
Must be physically fit to make entry into silo tanks at various times to distribute granules for further unloading.
Responsible for housekeeping in all assigned work areas; other areas as designated by the supervisor.
Immediately reports and takes steps to contain any hazardous materials spill following procedures outlined on the Hazardous Materials Spill Checklist.
Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Logistics and Transportation supervisor.
