Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform graphic design work for the office of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) by creating and producing high quality visual and multi-media content to support the County’s branding and communications goals.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Collaborates with clients to provide graphic design products that will visually present ideas, concepts, and data to best support county programs, objectives, and branding; assesses graphic design needs; formulates and presents ideas and recommendations regarding media, formats, and design elements; prioritizes assignments; provides proofs or drafts for review and discussion; and completes projects on schedule.
Creates original print and digital projects using a variety of graphic design software and tools, to include videos, exhibits, signage, logos, newsletters, presentations, calendars, brochures, flyers, websites, emails, sketches, maps, or reports; selects appropriate media, materials, and formats; conceptualizes layouts; selects appropriate design elements; formats text and artwork; takes photographs for use in projects; writes or edits content as directed; ensures accuracy and clarity of visual information; and integrates elements to publish final project.
Produces and distributes final media projects; may operate print shop machinery and equipment to produce projects in-house; coordinates production of print, promotional, or audiovisual materials by outside vendors; and prepares, packages, and distributes final products.
Develops visual content; designs graphics, infographics, and visual assets for digital and print use including social media, newsletters, and campaigns; creates branded templates and materials to ensure visual consistency across platforms; and designs impactful presentation graphics to enhance communications.
Manages photography and videography mediums to capture photos and videos of County events, initiatives, and public facing projects; and edits and produces videos for public education campaigns, social media, and other multimedia needs.
Maintains and organizes inventory of supplies, digital design elements, and completed projects.
Maintains and upgrades knowledge of design practices, trends, computer software, and computer hardware, and equipment.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with County operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures; receives and reviews various documentation, requests, and proof; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, and other documentation; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Communicates with Executive staff, other departments, vendors, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, multimedia, or related field required; three years of experience in graphics design, photography, video production, or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
