Position Summary/Objective 

The Creative Communications Department at Hearst operates within the corporate division, focusing on conveying the brand's message across various platforms. We collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure alignment with Hearst's mission and values. Our work spans print, web, social media, photography, and video while staying updated with current storytelling trends to engage audiences effectively. Our approach is driven by innovation and a commitment to delivering impactful content. We are a team dedicated to communicating Hearst's message through modern storytelling techniques.

The Graphic Designer utilizes their broad graphic design vocabulary and extensive working knowledge of related tools and software programs to develop Creative Communications materials.

Has creative design responsibility for the development and delivery of materials for specifically assigned projects, working independently or as part of a team. Deliverables include but are not limited to electronic communications (2D design, video editing, web design, digital screens, e-vites, e-newsletters), editing presentations, animation, logos and branding systems, printed collateral (brochures, invitations, signage, posters). 

This position reports to the Creative Director. 

Essential Functions

Responsible for the development of Creative Communications materials/products for assigned projects, ensuring Creative Communications design standards are maintained and deadlines are met.  Participate on teams or act as a team lead on projects in a fast-paced environment.  Ideate and execute visual strategies for other assigned projects  working on projects from concept to post-production.  Interact with clients on assigned projects. Responsible for reviewing all final project materials with the Creative Director and/or VP of Corporate Communications.      Maintain up-to-date working knowledge of available tools and software including Abode Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, PowerPoint, Sailthru, and UX design, Figma, HTML and website design.

Desired Experience & Competencies

Demonstrated graphic design experience across various products. Effective utilization of knowledge of the business partnered with broad graphic design vocabulary to effectively deliver a quality product across a variety of platforms/media for a variety of clients. Exhibits originality, imagination and talent to develop and deliver creative solutions based on best practice graphic design. Able to partner with business leaders to develop project concepts and lead the project design through completion. Ability to manage multiple, varied projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Willingness to contribute “hands on” participation on projects as needed.  Detail oriented and thorough. Constantly motivated to strive for constant personal and team improvement in graphic design quality, design capabilities and creative innovation.

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in New York State.  The reasonable estimate, if hired in New York State, is $60,000-$70,000.  Please note this information is specific to those hired in New York State.  If this role is open to candidates outside of New York State, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location.  A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.  Hearst provides a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, 401(k), paid holidays and paid time off, employee assistance programs, and more.
