The Student Leadership, Involvement, and Transition Experience (SLI-TE) office at The New School supports the university’s educational mission by fostering opportunities for meaningful engagement and connections beyond the classroom. SLI encourages students to actively participate in the university community by joining or starting a student organization, engaging in recreationalactivities, or attending events and programs organized by the Student Activities Board. The SLI office provides numerous opportunities to get involved on campus and enhance a student’s leadership potential.

RESPONSIBILITIES Craft visual and written content for SLI digital and physical platforms to promote SLI Events and initiatives. Assist in the marketing plan and promotion of SLI programs, including review and maintenance of websites and social media accounts. (Examples include but aren’t limited to: Narwhal Nation, Instagram, Twitter, Discord, Google Sites). Create, organize, and coordinate re-usable assets utilized for specific events, programs, and series put on by SLI and Registered Student Organizations (templates, guidelines, standards, logos) Collaborate and coordinate with students and staff to work collaboratively on short-term and long-term projects that require graphic design. Through office hours or a project portal – work with Registered Student Organizations to support their charters and mission through offering graphic design.
The Graphic Designer for Student Leadership Initiatives & Registered Student Organizations will also cross-train and work collaboratively with other Student Leadership and Involvement Student Workers and Leaders to: Assist and staff the in-person (39 W 13th Street, 2nd Floor) and virtual front desk of Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI). This includes but isn’t limited to assisting with answering telephones, filing correspondence, registration for SLI events, and running errands on campus. Triage and support visitors to the Student Hub. Welcome and support the on-boarding of new student employees. Serves as support staff and an ambassador for SLI during large-scale community events (i.e. Involvement Fairs, Block Party, Narwhal Spirit Week, Homecoming) Cultivate developmental goals and positional benchmarks with supervisor. Participates in recurring student staff meetings and retreats. Provide a high level of customer service when interacting with students, staff, faculty, community partners, or the general public. Maintain a confidential work environment.
WORK MODE Hybrid/Split – Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.
SALARY RANGE$16-$21/hr

Minimum Qualifications: This Position requires a Federal Work-Study Award Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to creatively problem solve, multi-task, and function in a collaborative work environment. Capacity to provide and receive constructive critique.
