Graphic Designer I

Job Description:

Creates online visual designs (including typography, visual concepts, logos, and icons) for print, digital, and web platforms. Able to create original designs using design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, CANVA and apply ADA, and web standards. Uses design skills to incorporate UFIC and UF institutional branding, layout, color theory, and typography in digital and media. Serves as photographer and archives photo material properly. Assists with department-wide events coordination and support.

Incumbent successfully integrates designs into projects and delivers projects on time. The incumbent effectively manages tasks of varying complexities, meets project deadlines, and provides analytics support for use on web, digital, printed, and all other UFIC media.

Integrate marketing initiatives and communication programs into social media campaigns in collaboration with the communications team.

Other: May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, as needed.

Expected Salary:

$50,000-$52,600/annually

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position is open to UF employees only.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING
 Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, or a related field

EXPERIENCE

Experience working with Adobe, Photoshop and/or illustrator or other creative tools.Four years of any combination of relevant experience, education, and/or certification. 
The level of expertise and skill required to qualify for a position in this classification is generally attained through combinations of education and experience in the field.

SKILLS

Strong understanding of typography, visual concepts, logos, and icon design for the internet and interactive platforms
Skilled in using the industry creative design tool                                                          
Able to apply WCAG2.0 standards to graphics in print and digital media
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding communicator; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with all constituencies
Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision
Accuracy, attention to detail and a customer service-oriented approach and mindset

KNOWLEDGE
Awareness of current standards and trends in IT and emerging technology

ABILITIES
Work collaboratively and build strategic relationships with both internal and external clients
Think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure  

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
