The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) department is hiring up to (3) EDS Responders for the Greater Boston, Mass Bay region.
All (3) positions are on an as needed, on-call, basis.
The pay rate is dependent upon experience and qualifications but up to $22.50 per hour.
Provide Emergency Disaster Services response and support in the Mass Bay area.
Qualifications
Willingness to work irregular hoursGood interpersonal and communication skillsMust be able to safely lift up to 50 lbsMust have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive disaster vehicle safely at any timeBasic computer skillsUtilizes social mediaMust have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army
Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Respond to all emergencies in assigned area.Be able to prepare and serve bulk meal production along with other resources from EDS vehicles.Be willing to always receive emergency notifications.Represent EDS Department on scene and collaborate with partnering agencies (FD, OEM, Red Cross, etc.).Contact and coordinate with local EDS volunteers as well as EDS Director and Deputy Director, to support response as needed.Participate in Divisional EDS meetings including quarterly Operations calls, EDS Commissions, and Tri-Divisional planning sessions with meeting minutes.Assist with always ensuring canteen and response equipment readiness.Be able to drive larger vehicles, trucks and/or haul trailersAssist with the deployment of equipment and personnel during major responses.Provides updates, run sheets, stories of responses, and media information (such as pictures) in a timely manner.To be able to provide basic EDS trainings to new volunteers to support Mass Bay EDS responses.Serve on-call to assist EDS Director, Deputy Director and primary staff with secondary support coverage.Assists with special events and special projects when necessaryComplete core EDS trainings and certifications required for duties, including ServSafe Manager and other EDS & FEMA courses.When on duty wear appropriate EDS uniform and identificationRemain up to date with Keep SAfe TrainingsPerform related duties as assigned
