HSE Coordinator – Greater China

Reports to: APAC HSE & Real Estate Manager

Location: Beijing office/hybrid work from home

Overview / Purpose of the position

This is an exciting role as HSE (Health and Safety and Environment) Coordinator.

The role provides support for the development, maintenance, sustainment, and communication of the Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System (14001/45001) across Greater China (including Hong Kong).

Promoting best practice HSE culture within the organization and facilitates continual improvements to ensure HSE objectives and outcomes are achieved.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Develop, implement, and maintain Greater China HSE policies and procedures based on regulatory requirements and compliance to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 in English and Chinese.Ensure the planning and completion of risk assessments, environment aspects and impacts registers, site inspections and safe systems of work to adhere to Group policy and guidance.Conduct internal ISO 45K/14K audits (virtual or site based) to assure HSE program compliance. Ensure closure of audit findings.Provide monthly accident and incident reporting to the APAC HSE & Real Estate Manager.Incorporate best practices and coordinate continuous improvement initiatives to raise safety awareness and improve safe work practices.Provide information, coordinate training (first aid/fire-warden), instruction, and task specific advice to colleagues.Manage and monitor near miss and investigate workplace incidents and follow-up on corrective actions.Maintain the site evacuation plans for Greater China and ensure all emergency evacuation procedures are recorded, followed, and practiced adhering with agreed business standards.Responsible for the HSE communication methods including notice boards, safety topics and toolbox talks, necessary HSE induction trainings at local.Hold Greater China HSE Committee meetings (quarterly), monitor and implement actions in line with Group HSE strategies.Support Greater China Leadership team in HSE Management Reviews (twice a year), and provide guidance in leadership tours etc.Assist the APAC HSE & Real Estate Manager with the HSE Committee program. Represent Greater China in the APAC HSE Committee.Support the APAC & Real Estate Manager in the development of HSE strategies, plans, training materials, objectives and monitoring performance.Responsible for liaison with the local government authority, e.g., regular reporting through the government platform, follow up actions raised, and timely HSE reporting as required by local and state health, safety & environmental regulations and statues.

Travel requirements:

10% travel required. Mostly domestic to BSI offices in Greater China, with some international travel needed (UK once annually).

To be successful in the role, you will have: 

Demonstrable experience in HSE roleKnowledge of health, safety, and environmental complianceExperience in accident and incident investigation and root cause analysisProfessional qualifications in HSE or equivalent Knowledge of ISO 45001 and 14001 Standards
