This position is with Green Power EMC (GPEMC). Green Power EMC is a not-for-profit corporation founded in 2001 to support 38 of Georgia's EMCs in their search for renewable resources. It is the largest operational green power program in the Southeastern United States. Green Power EMC serves its member EMCs by finding, screening, analyzing and negotiating power purchase agreements with Georgia-based renewable resource providers including solar, landfill gas, hydro and wind.
The Manager of Origination is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of GPEMC's project origination. The activities supported by the Manager of Origination include relationship development and networking with external entities, such as solar developers, IPPs, and early-stage permitting/development consultants to ensure that GPEMC can meet the needs of our members for utility-scale, community-scale, rooftop, and battery energy storage projects. This position will work closely with GPEMC's DER Manager, Contracts, Financing, and legal teams to develop and execute projects and will provide support for financial modeling efforts.
The Manager of Origination will be responsible for the request for proposal (RFP) development, process management, and evaluation to support project development and procurement goals. The Manager of Origination will support successful contract negotiations of Power Purchase Agreements and will be instrumental in securing financing for projects that are owned and operated by GPEMC on behalf of our member EMCs. Collaboration with all relevant stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes is critical.
The Manager of Origination will provide routine reports of activities, member engagement, and project activities for senior staff. In addition, the position will participate and contribute to strategic planning as required as well as implement tactical plans to support strategic objectives for GPEMC.
The position will maintain knowledge of current events, national trends, news & events regarding renewable energy markets, competitive industry changes, and state/federal legislation and regulations that may affect Green Power EMC and member EMC's.
This position will work closely with other GPEMC staff to ensure success of GPEMC activities and will perform other duties as assigned.
Job Duties:
+ Manage the origination, development, and negotiation of new renewable energy and BESS projects and services to support EMC interests. This includes but not limited to RFP development, evaluation, and negotiation of Power Purchase Agreements (PPA's).
+ Maintain strong relationships with external entities to ensure GPEMC's ability to meet our members' renewable interests and needs.
+ Support financial modeling efforts for all potential GPEMC projects. Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful development and execution of projects.
+ Remain up to date on current state and national trends, news & events regarding renewable energy markets, competitive industry changes, and state/federal legislation and regulations that may affect Green Power EMC and the EMCs.
+ Provide routine reports on activities, member engagement, and project activities to senior staff.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in management, economics, engineering, environmental science, or technology related field required. Master's Degree and/or NABCEP certification are an advantage.
Experience: Minimum of ten years of experience in renewable energy origination, finance, or project development. Experience with a utility/energy company is preferred. Experience structuring contracts/agreements with a medium to high degree of complexity and scope. Experience organizing and leading business meetings as well as representing energy companies in a preferred corporate environment. Knowledge or experience with renewable energy resources, especially solar energy generation, is a preference.
Equivalent Experience: Candidates with a technical degree plus 15 years of directly related experience may be considered.

Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications: Valid driver's license that meets the insurance eligibility requirements under Oglethorpe Power's Driver Qualification Program.
Travel: 50% - Mostly within GA, with some regional and national travel required.
