BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms.  We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with four new regional salad greenhouse hubs breaking ground to begin opening in 2024. BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 3,700 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest. The Greenhouse Technician focuses on maintaining the life systems of our plants (climate control, irrigation, and greenhouse mechanics). Whether this person is cleaning filters, checking stock tanks, or troubleshooting alarms, they are the first line of defense in conducting PMs and conflict resolution on mechanical systems.

Specifically, you will:

Perform routine maintenance on a range of greenhouse equipment/filters to maintain life support systemsUnderstand targets for greenhouse equipment and aid in troubleshooting climate, irrigation and fertigation Weigh and mix proper fertilizer recipes Maintaining inventory on fertilizer, spare parts and filtersShipping and receiving responsibility for O2 Inventory and partsSupport on taking samples for lab testsAudit greenhouse sanitation to prevent growth of pests and algaeLearn fundamentals of climate control software to report issues to growerRecord data and maintain recordsWill learn entry level grower responsibilities in role including but not limited to:Crop monitoringPest managementFertigation strategiesLight R&DNotifies Head Grower if there is a potential issue immediatelyOther duties as assigned by Head Grower 

The ideal candidate:

Minimum 1 year of experience in greenhouse production setting OR 2-3 years maintenance experience Required to on-call and able to respond to emergency situationsMust have reliable form of transportationBe able to work alone or as a part of a team to ensure our baby greens are safeAbility to establish and maintain effective communications and working relationships with the other departmentsDetail orientedEffective time-management skills and ability to multi-taskBasic computer skillsWillingness to learn a variety of tools, equipment, and techniquesSufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this position, including heavy liftingLead by example – take pride in what you do and set the highest standards for quality, efficiency, and productivity

Preferred Qualifications 

Plumbing and automation experience preferred

 

Working conditions / Environment / Travel / Schedule required 

Base schedule: Tuesday – Saturday 9:30am – 6:00pmSchedule may vary according to what the facility and plants needHeavy lifting – up to 50 lbs
