As a Substation Protection & Controls Entry Level Engineer you will be supporting the design, analysis, and implementation of protection and control systems for voltages from 12kV to 500kV, playing an integral role in ensuring the reliability and safety of the power system.
As an Engineer in Substation Protection & Controls, you will:
Assist in developing protection schemes for substations and configurations for transmission and distribution systems
Prepare and review wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and control schematics
Develop equipment specifications, bill of materials, and engineering documentation to support procurement and construction.
Ensure all designs and documentation comply with relevant industry standards (IEEE) and regulatory requirements.
Participate in client meetings
Support field personnel during the construction, testing, and commissioning of substations.
Candidates may or should have:
The ability to work with and understand technical concepts, while also being able to communicate them to non-technical personnel
Basic knowledge of the electric grid
Strong organizational skills
Strong skills and capabilities in Microsoft Office (specifically Word and Excel)
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with focus on Power Systems
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced user of Microsoft products, specifically Word and Excel.
Familiarity with PDF software such as Bluebeam.
Basic understanding of protection principles
Familiarity with CAD software, such as AutoCAD, and Bentley MicroStation
Understanding of substation components, including transformers, switchgear, breakers, and relays is a plus
Familiarity with protection and control devices, such as protective relays, circuit breakers, and SCADA systems
Experience in the utility industry

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$57,737.00 - $98,153.00Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
