Job Description
We are looking for a Grinder Operator with industrial or warehouse experience. This is a labor-intensive role in a very hot environment, utilizing a 45lbs hand grinder to grind railroad knuckles. No grinding experience is required, but candidates must pass a physical examination and wear steel-toed shoes with metatarsals and a hard hat.
ResponsibilitiesUse a 45lbs hand grinder to grind railroad knuckles.Shovel sand in the core room from the molding process.Lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.Assist the maintenance department by moving equipment, materials, and tools.Position castings on workbench using a hoist.Visually inspect castings and note work needed.Position and manually guide grinder or chipping hammer along specified guidelines on the edge or surface of the casting.Use production gauges to verify casting specifications are to standard.Verify number and type of casting to be prepared for shipment.Perform general housekeeping and clean-up in the work area.Essential SkillsIndustrial or warehouse experienceAbility to operate machines and perform general laborMeasuring skills using a tape measureHand grindingForklift operationAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in construction and sandingAbility to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbsWhy Work Here?
This is a 3-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a 401k option after 1 year. There are opportunities to move into machine operator roles, line lead, and maintenance positions over the course of a couple of years.
Work Environment
This is a hot, heavy industrial environment with large machines and molten metal-making equipment. It is also loud. Safety gear, including hard hats, steel-toed boots with metatarsals, and respirators, must be worn at all times. Beards are not permitted due to fit testing requirements.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $43680.00
Company paid benefits for medical. Contriubition needed but minimal paid for dental and visiion. 401k match up to 6 percent after the first year.

This is a fully onsite position in Pittsburgh,PA.
