In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives. The Gross Margin Improvements Engineering Lead will drive the Margin Improvement program for Electrophysiology. With a developed technical and financial acumen, the incumbent will identify and implement high impact/large scale initiatives to deliver sustainable improvement to gross margin. You will collaborate across cross-functional division leadership to gain broad alignment for the long-term strategy, as well as short-term execution of critical projects and programs. **What You’ll Work On** + Develops roadmap to achieve EP gross margin improvements in Operations and gains alignment with the EP leadership team and other key stakeholders. Defines roadmap milestones and tracks and reports progress against those milestones. + Technical Leader within the company + Establishes proactive, transparent, and effective communications cadence to ensure timely dissemination of information with the senior leadership team and other stakeholders. + Performs benchmarking and cost structure analysis to identify significant opportunities for improvement across functions. + Partners with the leadership team to define and assign goals, develop project funnels, support execution, and manage/mitigate risks. + Ensures high impact programs are defined, resourced, and implemented in order to achieve financial objectives, as defined in the long-term strategy. Ensures effective change management plans are defined to identify and mitigate risk and ensure sustainability of the changes. + Develops and deploys sustaining tools and processes to support the evaluation and identification of opportunities across direct and indirect spend areas. + May lead a project team. Acts as a mentor to less-experienced staff and may provide work direction or supervise other technical employees. **Required Qualifications** + Minimum 8 years’ experience managing large programs and cross-functional teams across multiple international locations. + Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, business, or finance field is required. + Familiarity and experience working across functions (e.g., Operations/Supply Chain, Marketing, Regulatory, Quality, R&D, Finance, HR, et. al.); natural tendency to think about key questions/issues from an integrated, cross-functional perspective. + Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to clearly define objectives and priorities, establish milestones, anticipate, and mitigate risks, lead cross-functional teams to meet and exceed goals in a dynamic environment, while maintaining strong attention to detail and quick recall. + Demonstrated ability to leverage qualitative and quantitative data through analysis, identify insights, and translate to actions. + Experienced managing ambiguity and proactively sensing risks; demonstrated ability to uncover hidden (or less obvious) risks, take ownership of problems, exercise sound judgment and independently determine appropriate course of action where precedent may not exist. + An approachable and credible communication style, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, to keep all levels of the organization informed, engaged, and motivated. + Excellent collaboration skills – able to navigate complex matrix within the Division and the broader Abbott organization to ensure alignment of priorities and partnership throughout program execution.
