Ground Software EngineerKBR has an opportunity for a Ground Software Engineer to support the SSPO Command & Control Division (CCD). SSPO CCD requires an experienced engineer familiar with ground systems software acquisitions to provide direct support to the Command & Control Division chief, and assist in Ground System Engineering for the Command & Control software. This multi-disciplined position encompasses system engineering and contract technical and programmatic surveillance for the sell-off of satellite ground software systems, as part of a government/contractor team. The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer:
Responsibilities include:
Provide primary support, as required, to the customerProvide expert advice concerning satellite ground software development, test, verification, validation and integration activities.Assist in identifying, tracking, evaluating and mitigating technical, financial and schedule risks -- participate in the CCD and contractor risk management processes.Provide formal and informal feedback to the Division Chief on all aspects of program status.Support the customer in oversight of the design, integration and test, installation and sell-off of spacecraft command and control software systems.Perform integration support for software solutions in multiple locations.Provide systems engineering support for requirements development, design, test plans, and requirements verifications through acceptance testing from developers.Review and assess the adequacy of ground systems specifications, Requirement Allocation Documents (RAD), Requirement Verification Plans (RVP), Interface Control Documents (ICD), Requirement Verification Reports (RVR) and system level requirements documentation.Review, analyze and coordinate any changes to ground system specifications. Participate in defining, managing, testing, verifying and validating collection segment internal and external interfaces.Attend system level design reviews, and program management reviews to assess ground system design maturity, requirements compliance and to provide informed technical recommendations to the customer.Review, document and trace ground systems hardware requirements, and coordinate with other engineers, FFRDC and developer personnel to resolve issues.Review ground system requirements allocations for accuracy and ensure requirement allocation documentation is complete and accurate.Participate in and witness ground hardware systems testing to verify internal and external interfaces.Coordinate across geographic diverse sites for delivery and acceptance testing; requires travel to these sites as well as to developer sites.Support request for change (RFC) processesRequired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 10 years of satellite ground software and requirements management experience.Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systems and architectures.Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment.Experience in DOD/IC acquisition and program management processes.Experience in the development of DOD/IC mission payloads, associated phenomenology, and their effective integration into system level architectures.Working knowledge of the requirements process across a program’s lifecycle.Familiarity with Earned Value measurement processes.Demonstrated ability to take complex technical issues and present them in a form and format suitable for decision.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated sustained superior performance.Available to travel domestically and internationally.Security Clearance Requirements: Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
