Grounds Supervisor
Position Description/Summary: The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Ground Services Supervisor for a complete facility maintenance program to support a federal Agency. The Ground Services Supervisor works under the general supervision of the Project Manager on the day-to-day grounds of the FLETC complex. The Ground Services Supervisor manages the day-to-day, 24-hour operation of the team on the ground’s maintenance team. Supervise and schedule employees in the maintenance of a variety of grounds, fields, and parks and perform mowing, weeding, tilling, raking, digging, and other manual labor tasks. Develop and implement operating procedures and safety programs for the work area. Supervise all areas related to FLETC Train, supervise, and evaluate subordinates. Prepare plans and cost estimates for parks maintenance and improvements. Prepare fields for athletic activities such as: lining, raking, etc. Install turf, seeds, and top dressing on field, parks, and other grounds. Apply and instruct subordinates in safe use and handling of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, and fertilizers. Inform and direct the public in the use of facilities. Attend meetings both internal and external. Requisition materials, supplies, and equipment. Shall possess at least 3 years of recent (within the past 10 years) responsible experience in the management and supervision of commercial and institutional groundskeeping of the approximate size and characteristics of the FLETC Complex.  Ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate, and detailed reports. Perform other job duties as assigned.  Must be physically able to perform duties as described, including lifting and handling heavy equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and working outside in all types of weather. Must be able to stand and walk around the campus performing groundskeeping duties for the entire shift. Must be able to climb steps/ladders, bend, reach, and stoop as necessary to perform grounds-keeping duties. Some weekends, overtime, and call-back work may be required to handle special events, peak workloads, and emergencies. May be required to be on campus before and immediately following all emergencies such as hurricanes, floods, snow/ice storms, etc. The position is an ON-SITE position and will require being in North Charleston.
