AMRTC is an inpatient psychiatric hospital serving adults with mental illness in a large, campus-based setting. Located just 15 minutes north of the Twin Cities metro, this modern facility offers compassionate, person-centered care in a pleasant environment appreciated by patients and employees alike. We recognize the Groundskeeper as an important member of our team, responsible for maintaining the exterior appearance of AMRTC. In this role, you will contribute to the scenic and therapeutic atmosphere of the facility by providing lawn maintenance, landscaping and trimming to keep the campus flora in a park-like condition. This position also offers the chance to use your creativity in landscaping and designing the layout of flower beds. Job Duties: + Participate in planning, prioritizing, scheduling, and performing grounds maintenance activities related to lawns, trees, shrubs, weed control, snow and ice removal, parking lots and road repair and maintenance. + Assist in determining the need for reseeding lawns; provide assistance and direction in the preparation of soil for seeding, spraying and fertilizing. + Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and tools used in grounds keeping and landscaping work. + Perform minor repairs on park benches, ramps and other outdoor furniture or fixtures. + When needed, assist the transportation team by driving patients and staff to and from appointments, plus pickup and delivery of supplies for the facility. + Assist in supervising and directing the Community Service and Correction Department work crews. **Minimum Qualifications** + Applicants must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. In addition, applicants must have: + Knowledge of: + Lawn and garden techniques and practices (planting schedules, germination intervals, chemical fertilizer application, and transplant procedures) sufficient to maintain and improve facility grounds and landscape, as well as recognize and treat plant diseases or pests. + Motorized equipment and tools sufficient to operate and perform simple repair and maintenance on them. + Basic principles of construction sufficient to build and repair simple structures. Ability to: + Perform lawn, garden, and road maintenance for a large campus, including plant, weed, trim, mow, water, fertilize, seed and sod. + Operate and maintain groundskeeping tools, machinery, and equipment, including riding lawnmowers, landscape machinery, and snow removal equipment. + Follow simple oral and written instructions, read and understand operational manuals, and keep simple records. + Lift and move up to 40 pounds. + Work in inclement weather conditions. **Preferred Qualifications** Previous experience as a groundskeeper, landscaper or similar role. **Physical Requirements** + Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds. + Ability to work in inclement weather conditions. **Additional Requirements** To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.
