Job Description

We're looking for a Group Credit Risk Lead to join our growing team and help us build a world-class credit risk management function. You'll play a crucial role in protecting Wise and our customers while enabling sustainable growth across our products globally.

 

Your Impact:

You will be one of two leads owning Credit Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk management globally acting as the first line of defence and reporting to the Corporate Treasurer.

Design, develop and enhance Credit Risk frameworks that support product innovation while maintaining robust risk controls

Partner with Wise Platform team to assess credit risk implications of existing and new products, providing strategic advice and risk-based pricing recommendations

Evaluate and monitor the creditworthiness of existing and potential partners/customers

Analyze credit data and financial statements to determine credit limit and credit term to partners/customers that are in line with internal risk appetite

Collaborate with second-line Risk and Prudential teams on regulatory requirements (ICAAP/ICARA/ILAAP), including harm assessments and residual risk identification

Perform stress testing and scenario analysis to assess potential impacts on the portfolio

Build and maintain relationships with banking partners through periodic reviews and risk assessments aligned with our credit risk policy

Own and develop the global Credit Risk Policy framework

Work cross-functionally with Payments and Treasury Operations teams to implement automated credit risk controls and monitoring systems

Serve as the primary subject matter expert for credit risk considerations in new product expansions

Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on credit risk exposure and trends

Act as a trusted advisor to ALCO and Credit Risk Committee on credit risk decisions

 


Qualifications

Extensive experience in credit risk management within financial services or fintech.

Strong understanding of credit risk frameworks, policies, and regulatory requirements including the Basel regulatory framework

Proven track record in developing and implementing risk models and controls

Experience in working with regulatory requirements and governance frameworks

Experience in IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss modeling, Unexpected Credit Loss analysis, and Basel framework compliance.

Good understanding of analytical tools like SQL, Python, or similar tools.

Outstanding communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

Strong project management skills and ability to drive multiple initiatives simultaneously

Adaptable mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
