**Job Description:**
Schnabel is actively seeking an experienced Group Lead Water Resources Dam Engineer to join our growing Water Practice in Colorado. As an integral member of our team, you will leverage your professional experience and technical knowledge to support and lead a wide variety of water resources engineering projects that involve dams and reservoirs, flood resiliency, and general water infrastructures projects in Colorado, across the West and nationally. The role also involves project management, client interaction, business development, as well as the supervision and mentorship of junior staff. Schnabel’s Denver office focuses on the evaluation and design of dams, structures, and facilities as well as advancing our practice of risk informed decision making within our dam engineering group. Example projects include the inspection, evaluation and design (new dams and rehabilitation) of embankment and concrete dams, spillways, outlet works, and instrumentation, and performing risk assessments for dam owners for sites located across the United States.
**Position Responsibilities:**
Candidate will serve as the Group Lead Water Resources Dam Engineer for Schnabel’s Denver Office. Major focus areas for the role include:
+ Serve as a Group Lead and Project Manager on a variety of projects that include surface water hydrology and hydraulics, dams & levees, flood protection, as well as resiliency and climate change adaptation.
+ Grow our local practice by adding new clients, building upon current client relationships, and following major regional programs and funding streams.
+ Work with leaders across the firm’s divisions and offices to build meaningful alliances and leverage Schnabel’s full spectrum of capabilities and expertise.
+ Lead and support sales efforts, including managing proposals, building teams and industry partnerships, and aligning the relevant technical expertise to best solve client challenges.
+ Responsibilities include the development and supervision of hydrologic and hydraulic models, climate risk and hazard analyses, as well as contributing to the planning and design of water resources projects.
+ Prepare and review water resources engineering reports, technical documents, and presentations for a variety of applications, projects, and clients.
+ Conduct inspections of existing hydraulic structures and perform dam safety reviews, ensuring compliance with current industry standards and design criteria.
+ Engage with clients and regulators, set clear project objectives for teams, and efficiently manage resources to ensure timely delivery, within budget, and meeting client performance expectations.
+ Promote the growth and mentorship of our junior water resources engineering team, both within our Denver office and across the firm.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Civil and/or Water Resources Engineering.
+ 15+ years of direct engineering experience in the water resources and modeling fields with in-depth experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling concept and principles.
+ Proven track record in winning work, managing employees, and growing teams.
+ Experience with modeling tools and design software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-MetVue, HEC-DSS. LifeSim, HEC-FIA, DAMRAE, ArcGIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D. Experience with 3-D numerical modeling a plus.
+ Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado or ability to become registered within 6 months.
+ Effective time management through balancing multiple concurrent tasks, responsibilities, and commitments.
+ Analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
+ Organized, self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
+ Excellent English technical verbal and written communication skills.
**Preferred Qualifications/Skills:**
+ Colorado experience and knowledge is preferred.
+ Willingness to travel with some overnight travel.

The compensation range for a Group Lead Water Resource Dam Engineer is between $120,000 to $145,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
