Group Manager, Chassis

We are seeking a Supply Chain Group Manager focused on Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics Procurement (Dampers, Mounts, Wheels, Tires, Aluminum processing, Casting, Forging, Machining, Steering, Brakes, Mechatronics).

The Group Manager, with a background in mechanical engineering, will collaborate with Lucid engineers to design and deliver industrialized chassis systems with an efficient supply chain. They will establish global supply chain strategies, manage operations, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Responsibilities include driving design, material, and process improvements, and reporting development progress to senior leaders.

The role involves defining sourcing strategies, providing technical resolutions, and making business and engineering decisions throughout the product lifecycle. The Group Manager will lead a team of Global Supply Managers, oversee business with Chassis commodity suppliers, and interface with Engineering, Finance, Logistics, Quality, and Manufacturing to deliver world-class products efficiently. They will support cross-functional teams during development and industrialization phases and drive sound business decisions throughout the product lifecycle.

You Will: 

In conjunction with Lucid engineers, collaborate to create design-to-cost strategies and develop Engineering Statement of Work documents to be used for RFQ’s.  Provide detailed engineering and supply chain reports, along with recommendations to Lucid leadership.  Present upward status of objectives, strategies, and remedies to issues   Collaborate with Engineering and Supplier Quality to identify potential suppliers with the right qualifications to meet Lucid’s expectations and timeline  Use technical background to drive optimal system creation with Lucid designers, create RFQs, review, analyze, clarify quotations from suppliers and develop sound sourcing and business recommendations balancing cost, quality, lead-time and technical considerations  Thoroughly negotiate favorable contracts including parts pricing, tooling costs and Engineering Services (NRE / EDT)   Work with suppliers and Engineering to release parts into production and issue POs for Prototype/Production Parts and Prototype/Production Tooling  Manage supplier development and tooling timelines, part availability for prototype builds/start of production and develop solutions to delays or problems that arise  Work directly with targeted suppliers to perform on-site audits to ensure efficiency of their operation with the goal of identifying design, material and process optimizations.  Maintain overall supplier relationships and act as point of contact for all commercial issues, including internal detailed engineering-oriented report-outs summarizing sourcing status, parts availability and cost status  Travel 15-25% to visit suppliers to perform business and program reviews  Manage and mentor a team of supply chain professionals 

You Bring: 

Bachelor’s degree in Technical/Engineering, Supply Chain or related field. MBA or master's degree is preferred.   Minimum 8 years Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Engineering experience on relevant commodity  Understanding in key development, testing, and manufacturing processes of the commodity; preferably in Chassis & Vehicle Dynamics (Dampers, Mounts, Wheels, Tires, Aluminum processing, Casting, Forging, Machining, Steering, Brakes, Mechatronics) Product launch experience from design concept to production  Understanding of mechanical and quality principles, product development processes, and data analysis.   Able to show teamwork to resolve problems and a thought process to drive successful solutions  Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Passion for results, strategy, and hands on execution.  Creative, calculated risk taker with the ability to manage complex suppliers and resolve disputes while preserving relationships with suppliers and internal staff  Strong written and verbal skills as well as organizational and program management capabilities  Proficient in Excel, Project, Power Point, Word, ERP systems (SAP or Coupa equivalent)  Ability to mitigate unforeseen problems creatively and effectively  Ownership and commitment to your role and supporting teams’ success    At Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it!
