Job Description:

The Group Manager, Specialized Finance manages a team of Specialized Finance Analysts and related processes and activities for a specialized area, operational unit, centre of expertise or finance discipline.

Depth & Scope:

Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as requiredLeads and manages a team of professionals and overall operation of a diverse group in an area of moderate risk, complexity or scope, while growing talent, developing skills and capabilities to achieve career goals, support project / initiative success and achieve business resultsAbility to present and make recommendations to senior management and executivesEnsures an integrated approach with other business areas, broader organization, and enterprise as appropriateCoordinates and prioritizes multiple initiatives and manages resource allocationEstablishes effective relationships with different Stakeholders, Business Sponsors, Executives and LOBProvides support and contributes to the overall discipline and strategy for respective areasProvides coaching, mentorship and guidance to practitioners, business, executives within area of expertiseDeep knowledge and understanding of businesses / technology, and organizational practices/ disciplinesAdvanced knowledge of external competition, industry and/or market trends in relation to own function / businessFocus on short to medium-term issues (e.g. 6-12 months)

Education & Experience:

Undergraduate degree and/or7+ years of relevant experience preferredAccounting or financial designation preferredPreferred People Management experience or other equivalent leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge or experience with loan accounting and reportingKnowledge of Allowance, Loan and Lease Loss and Delinquency reportingKnowledge of CECL reporting

Customer Accountabilities:

Develops and maintains good relationships with key business / finance partners and other stakeholders and effectively communicates relevant / meaningful recommendations on a range of specialized finance management issues or related operational processes Liaises and effectively interacts with internal / external auditors / regulators where applicable and ensures appropriate action is taken where requiredActs as subject matter expert for own area and provides guidance/ advice and recommendations to support dealings with internal / external partners Contributes to the analysis, due diligence and execution of potential business restructuring, acquisitions, joint ventures and /or divestitures within own area of responsibility and ensures appropriate Finance areas are involved where necessary  Develops and/or assesses significant business cases / new initiatives applying expertise and ensuring criteria for own area are met (e.g., taxation, accounting practices, forecasted rates of return, evaluate outcomes, test assumptions, interface with others for appropriate input, identify benchmarks)Manages / coordinates client requests for finance support and/or reports, ensuring that solutions balance and address business partner needs with overall Finance capabilities. Participates on internal / external committees as appropriate to provide advice / counsel to business / finance partners and/or represent TD's interests
