We value the opportunity to consider those who believe they have the necessary skills and ambition to succeed at NREL.** **Job Description** NREL is seeking a Group Manager in the Chemistry and Nanoscience Center within the Materials Chemistry and Computational Sciences Directorate to lead a group focused on high efficiency, next generation photovoltaics based on hybrid and organic materials and on closely related applications such as light emitting diodes, and photodetectors. The research group uses tools principally focused on chemical, electrochemical, material, reliability, and processing science, as well as other disciplines related to clean energy technologies and makes extensive use of state-of-the-art tools that are available at NREL and at National Lab User Facilities. The group is part of a larger team of excellence in renewable energy technologies research from early stage to applied science at NREL that spans multiple Centers and Directorates. The interests of the groups range from fundamental research and development to device testing to modelling and partnering with private industry to enable large-scale testing of new technologies developed. The group, center, and MCCS directorate provide national and international direction in renewable energy technologies developed in the group through leadership in consortiums such as the Roll-to-roll consortium, the US- Manufacturing of Advanced Perovskites (US-MAP) consortium, the Durable Module Materials Consortium (DuraMAT), the Perovskite PV Accelerator for Commercializing Technologies (PACT), and the Cadmium Telluride Accelerator Consortium (CTAC), We also provide leadership in national hubs such as the Liquid Sunlight Alliance (LiSA), the Sunlight Energy Innovation Hub. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chemistry and Nanoscience Center, the Materials Science Center, the Computational Sciences Center and the leadership and researchers from the Materials, Chemical and Computational Sciences (MCCS) while utilizing the lab’s program interface to DOE programs such as the Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO), the Industrial Efficiency & Decarbonization Office (IEDO), the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Office (HFTO), the Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO), and the Buildings Technology Office (BTO), to identify and develop new capabilities and steward existing infrastructure and programs. The group manager will serve as a key contributors to the broader NREL science and technology strategy through strategic interactions throughout the MCCS directorate and with other directorates at NREL. Further, the candidate will provide scientific and strategic leadership and mentoring to a group consisting of technical staff of all levels, postdoctoral researchers, and students while advancing and maintaining a safe and secure work environment. . **Basic Qualifications** Group Manager II Bachelor’s Degree and 9-years’ experience in technically related research discipline; Or, Master’s Degree and 7-years’ experience in technically related research discipline; Or, PhD and 4-years’ experience in technically related research discipline. Group Manager III Bachelor’s Degree and 14-years’ experience in technically related research discipline; Or, Master’s Degree and 12-years’ experience in technically related research discipline; Or, PhD and 9-years’ experience in technically related research discipline.
