The Senior Principal Electronics Reliability Materials Engineer's primary duties are to apply analytical and engineering skills to ensure reliability and robustness targets are met in our disruptive designs that push the electronics to their limits. The Senior Principal Electronics Reliability Materials Engineer will be a member of **REDD** Team ( **R** eliable **E** lectronics **D** isruptive **D** esigns), that supports platform and new product development teams. This position will report to the Director of Electronics Reliability. This position also requires excellent cross-functional communication skills and the ability to identify, assess, analyze, and present information to help launch new and exciting solutions that meet user needs. **Duties and Responsibilities:** + Function as a subject matter expert (SME) in electronic component and electronics materials failure analyses. + Provide guidance and consulting on corrosion mitigation methods for electronics. + Mentor engineers on new ways to improve electronics reliability and understand electronic component/materials failure mechanisms. + Develop new analysis methods, test processes, and procedures for electronic component and electronic materials reliability testing and failure analyses. + Participate in the creation of training materials and knowledge warehouse for electronics reliability failure mechanisms, failure modes, and potential root causes. + Review REDD Lab failure analysis reports for technical accuracy. + Develop multi-year roadmaps and vision for electronics component and electronic materials failure analysis in REDD Lab. + Teach classes to engineers on SME topics. + Analyze electronic component failures to identify failure mechanisms and participate in developing tests to replicate them. + Identify, assess, and analyze electronics for reliability risks from a materials perspective during development. + Identify opportunities for applying best practices and document successes. **Job Requirements:** + 20+ years of experience with electronics component and electronics materials failure analyses. + 10+ years of experience with the application of laboratory equipment (X-ray, C-SAM, FT-IR, microscope, sectioning, etc.) for failure mechanism identification in electronics. + Bachelor of Science Degree in Materials Engineering, or educational equivalent. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Ability to travel up to 10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International) **Preferred Requirements:** + Previous experience with embedded power electronics/motor drive-based products. + Previous experience with corrosion mitigation in electronics. + Previous experience with teaching topics related to electronics materials, corrosion, or failure mechanisms. + Previous experience with building a laboratory that supports products development. **We provide these great perks and benefits:** + Robust health, dental and vision insurance plans. + Generous 401 (K) savings plan. + Education assistance. + On-site wellness, fitness center, food and coffee service. + And many more, check out our benefits site HERE (https://www.milwaukeetool.jobs/Benefits) .
