Cathay Pacific is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Safety Manager - Operational Safety to join our team. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for ensuring and enhancing airline safety across the organization. The successful candidate will oversee the effective implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) and drive a culture of safety excellence
Key ResponsibilitiesSafety Leadership and Oversight: Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Operational Safety team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practicesRisk Management and Investigations: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and investigations of incidents, serious incidents, and accidents to identify potential safety hazards and develop effective mitigation strategiesAccident Investigation Team Leadership: Lead the Group’s Company Accident Investigation Team (CAIT) and participate in the investigation of safety accidents or incidentsSafety Reporting and Analysis: Review safety reports, incident data, and safety-related information to extract valuable insights and lessons learnedSafety Performance Monitoring: Monitor safety events and trends, proactively identifying areas for improvement and implementing preventive measuresEmerging Safety Issues Identification: Regularly analyze collected data to identify trends and patterns that may indicate emerging safety issues, and proactively address potential risks before they escalateStakeholder Collaboration: Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and industry associationsSafety Action Implementation: Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the prompt implementation of safety actions and recommendationsSafety Management System (SMS) Implementation and Safety Culture Promotion: Oversee the effective implementation of the SMS, promoting a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization by fostering awareness, accountability, continuous improvement, and comprehensive safety training and communicationContinuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through data analysis, trending, and benchmarkingRequirements
Minimum of 8 years of work experience in the airline industry or aviation safety, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacityTertiary qualification, preferably a technical degree in aviationStrong leadership abilities to inspire and motivate teamsProven track record in driving safety initiatives and achieving measurable improvements in safety performanceExcellent collaboration and stakeholder management skillsPrior engagement with regulatory authoritiesStrong analytical skills with expertise in data analysisExceptional written and verbal communication skillsExtensive operational knowledge across multiple business areasExperience in leading safety investigations and risk assessments; expertise in Safety Management System and Aviation Accident InvestigationPersonal & Application Information
