Group Sales Manager
Overview It is the responsibility of the Group Sales Manager to increase the revenue of the Catering/Group Sales Department in an efficient and professional manner while ensuring all established standards are maintained or exceeded. In addition to selling existing conference space, this role will focus on utilizing the property’s special event venues to include the pool, showroom and banquet hall. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company’s brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. – Kindness, Engagement, Empathy and Positivity). Responsibilities Develop local catering business by solicitation. Increase local catering revenue by booking new business from local contacts Make sales calls on local businesses to develop new business Increasing total group sales. Increasing revenue by up-selling services/facilities during group contract negotiations. Maintain accurate paperwork and files for catering and sales groups. Provide Banquet space availability to clients. Seek to maximize revenue by focusing on the following areas: Follow-up on every potential lead and inquiry to secure new catering business. Maintain new catering relationships, (done through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and emails). Respond to client opportunities, issues and concerns with a sense of urgency. Regularly report progress, developments and opportunities. Responsible for acquiring and developing new accounts while managing existing accounts to ensure repeat sales. Assist to achieve in the smooth flow of information and communication of clients’ needs. Maximize revenue by up-selling packages and creative food and beverage. Develop a close working relationship with the Director of Sales & Catering to ensure execution of strategies. Attend networking events to create new business. Be present at events as needed, including weekends and holidays. Present needs of the Banquet, Catering and Culinary Departments to the Director of Sales & Catering. Complete special projects as requested by Food and Beverage management and other departments. Assist operations reviewing every detail of Banquet Event Orders to ensure that all of the clients' needs are met. Attend client meetings, tours and tastings. Create professional diagrams and BEOs for all events. Submit monthly sales reports and track leads. Represent self with the highest level of integrity and professionalism while maintaining a service-focused approach. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Proven negotiating and closing skills. Ability to manage people in a professional, unemotional and respectful manner. Ability and eagerness to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action when problems occur. Must be highly organized, creative and efficient in handling of paperwork and organization of tasks on hand. Must be able to adapt to constant changes. Must be able to successfully work independently and as part of a team. Must demonstrate a passion for food. Experience in special events or marketing in a hospitality/casino environment. Good communication, computer skills, typing, 10 key. Good telephone skills. Excellent public relations skills. Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications preferred. Minimum age requirement is 21.
